- Come join me on an emotional journey as I play through this bittersweet melody, which serves as the backdrop for a sorrowful goodbye to our hero, as a confused dung beetle is finally vanquished from Spira.
And yes, it's goodbye. I don't consider the plot of FFX-2 to be canon, a game in which the main character's ultimate dressphere resembles a gigantic albino hoo-ha.

Always loved that they depicted Tidus as the "crybaby." It's ok for boys and men to cry too! Especially once they realize they have to use Kimahri in a solo battle.

To this day, this is still my favorite ending composition in any game in the series. This was such a beautiful arrangement. I can’t imagine how many takes this took 😭

Hard to not cry when hearing this! Brings me back to when I first beat the game and couldn’t stop crying at the ending. This is my favorite final fantasy game

The emotions came immediately with just the first few notes. By about the three-minute mark, I could envision the accompanying scene in my head as well.

X-2 was a real missed opportunity to explore Yuna's grief more thoroughly. They had the right idea by echoing the grief felt by Shuyin over what happened to Lenne but they scarcely touched on Yuna's story. They also tried to force the girl power component a little too much for a story that really seemed to be about great loss and even some disturbing elements like the experiments Paine, Baralai and Nooj experienced. Real whiplash tonally.
Beautiful composition. I've only replayed X a couple of times since I was a teenager but this theme never fails to hit me in the feels.
Thank you for listening!!! Yeah I agree. I'm not even sure what the Crimson Squad had anything to do with the main storyline, besides being an underwhelming "mystery" that involved a sphere collecting sidequest. Bleh
@@Harpsibored Agreed. X-2 was a hodgepodge of interesting ideas that didn't really fit together. The silliness of the Gullwings seemed to be trying to be uplifting or a way for Yuna to move forward after what happened in X and using the Lenne/Shuyin scenario as a vicarious way to experience that loss being a contrasting element but ultimately the silliness undercut capacity for emotional depth.
Then of course the Crimson Squad seemed unrelated to anything else altogether.
Any of those 3 elements on their own more fully realized could have been good but all 3 of them were underbaked and didn't play nice with each other.
Shame since X was such a triumph.
Beautiful title music though. Eternity is maybe my single favorite piece of video game music. It's so beautiful I get chills listening to it. No clue if it would work on a harp though.

@@Harpsibored Agreed with everything you said 100%. I think my favourite small moment of the whole game is during the montage that plays after Yuna says "or the dreams that have faded" and it has that shot of macalania and that melody that you play at 5:54 is playing

The ending for FFX was beautiful but so somber. It always made me cry and this rendition is no different.

It's amazing to see how strong the harp holds up on it's own with a skillful player using it. Thank you for sharing these amazing performances. Nobuo Uematsu is the greatest musician in my opinion. I know I'm not alone in feeling that way.

Thank you!!! This is actually my second recording. Got one I really liked but my mic cable malfunctioned and I decided I'd rather just rerecord it than try to fix it with VSTs...sigh.

This one hits me right in the feeliver. FFX's ending is greatness because the story is greatness and this song is nothing but a multiplicator to that greatness. I tried playing this on a piano, the official piano OST version of it, but I never perfected it. I learned To Zanarkand, that was good enough for me. You breathed new life into it and it was beautiful.
Yeah, FFX-2 was weird. I don't hate it per se (I save that feeling for FFXIII-2), but it was weird. The best thing about it was the in-game menu. Seriously, I love it. I know it's a weird thing to like in a videogame, but man, was that thing pretty. Also, Memory of Light and Waves, that was awesome. Probably would translate well to harp, too.

Hahaha that FFX-2 shade. Honestly I really tried to get into it, tried to set aside any pre-concieved notions I had and try to enjoy it for what it was, but I just couldn't. There were a handful of scenes that were good, but other than that.... A lot of people enjoyed it for the gameplay, but I couldn't really get into that either. I don't have any issue with the concept of the dresssphere but the execution didn't feel very satisfying to me.
I loved the dresspheres, the battle system is reminiscent of the FFV job/class system. But yeah the dialogue and the plot was just.....................................no.
FFX and harp? How not to like it? :D
