I love boats and spent a lot of time on them with my Dad. I am a professional artist and I share my paintings here. Cheers on a Wednesday!

i was surprised you didnt put a base coat of epoxy and filler on first then screw the skeg down to spread it out and fill any voids , still im sure looks good when all finished

Hmm, now you said that I wonder too!! It was well covered and I did smudge in 404 filler so hopefully she'll be fine.

The new skeg is a great project,... Although, the grinding, and sanding sounds make me feel like I'm in a dentist's chair, gettting work done on my teeth, hehe....🙂

To be honest Dave I wouldn't have bothered with the screws. They only go through the hull which will be approx 5 or 6mm ply. Can't see them holding much. I think your strength here is going to be the expoxy and glass matt. However what you've done looks to be a very strong job and should last a long time.

Yes the smaller screw on the inside part has come through the hull. Nothing I can;t handle but I agree, probably not really needed and if the skeg was subject to those forces, its probably best the skeg breaks anyway!
