Andrea Carrie "Annie" Drews (born December 25, 1993) is an American volleyball player who plays Opposite for the United States women's national volleyball team. She has played professional club volleyball in Puerto Rico, Italy, and Turkey. Drews was elected as the Most Valuable Player of the 2019 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League in Nanjing, China, where USA won the gold medal and the Best Opposite of the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup as part of the silver medal squad. She currently plays for Japan V.League Division 1 (V1) team JT Marvelous in the 2020-2021 season for the second year in a row.

There is an opposite in Brazil who also has a bright future, which is Lorrayna Marys, who is very reminiscent of Egonu's way of playing. I'm not comparing her and Drew, but just showing that there is a new generation with excellent players. Drew is the best at the moment.

Mr Kwong---------well----------I see I'm not the only one who notices how Annie lands , & the pressure on her knees. I'm now 74 y/o, & was ultra-athletic, all my life. I was warned about my R-knee & calf-muscles, taking too much pressure, playing B-Ball into my 50's, but of course, I ignored the warning. Now, my R-Knee is a problem. --------I've no doubt, Annie is aware, & is watched closely . Being 27 y/o helps. ----------MJL, 74 y/o

Annie needs to work on her blocking and serving. No doubt on her attacking. If she worked out those two, she will be an unstoppable force and I can’t wait to see that.
She was the best server of the Japan League. And that’s against Japanese receivers who are some of the best, if not the best, when it comes to passing.
wwxoxoww yeah she is the best server in Japan League but if you watched her in VNL 2019, most of her serves were buried into the net. I am not saying that she is a bad server, but she needs to be consistent in serving for her to be more lethal. Her serves are great, there are lot of time she had aces but she need to be consistent. After all, what I want is for the USA to win the gold in olympics
@@wwxoxoww110 The current level of competition and skills in Japan League is not very high comparing with leagues in Turkey, Italy, Russia, Brazil and China. The best opposite hitters in Japan could not be as good as those top ones in the world. Drew is one of the best opposite hitters in the world. But not as good as Egonu, Boskovic, and Goncharova.
John Paul Ibarrientos Right then and there you already know that your response is faulty because VNL happened before JVL. She improved a lot over that span of time. Speaks a lot about her ability to learn.
grad6grade I beg to differ. While it does pale in terms of blocking or kills, the Japanese have tipped the scales in terms of their passing, defense and serving. So any doubt about her abilities is invalid. She’s one of the best there is. Goncharova isn’t effective anymore anyway.
