Greetings from London. I'm your latest subscriber as keen to see what you're up to with your Capri. I've just bought a real survivour in the form of a 1962 Consul Classic in lime green from the original owners son with 55000 miles from when it left the Ford plant in Dagenham, never welded and in it's original paint still. I chased that car for 10 years until he finally said yes and I'm the third owner from new! Always been garaged so, no sun damage to the green dash top or seats. It's still 1962 when you open the door and being a deluxe it's two tone silver and green seats C/W original green carpets. The car is far from immaculate, just never touched anywhere, my job is now it's preservation as theres hardly any now that haven't been restored or scrapped. The guy who bought it new worked for Ford at Dagenham and it wears it's original OO registration still. She drives well and looking at the service records its only completed 2500 miles in 44 years so, easy does it for a while.. I shall be following your progress with interest, Kevin.. Cheers. Phil.
Thanks for your Subscription Phil, you are very fortunate to find such an original Classic that has not been messed with, good luck with the tidy up on her. Kevin
This British Ford Consul model was not sold in Australia. I am amazed how American it appears in its styling with the tail-fins etc. Best of luck with the restoration!
Thanks for that, was based on the American Galaxie 500 & the Lincoln Continental roofline in 1958 approx. Your are right none were exported to Aussie and only about 60 to NZ the Aussie ones were exported from NZ or South Africa I believe. Ahead of it's time I think for ford UK. Very rear world wide with under 100 still mobile. Thanks Kevin
Good to see you back, I was wondering the other day how you were getting on. Lots of hard won progress which is great to see. Looking forward to seeing more when you can! 😊👍🏼
Fantastic looking car
Thanks I think it is Special aswell, not many in the world.
