Hey prarthana, I am a therapist and I had a few corrections regarding therapy
    1. Therapy doesn't always go on for years and the ideal is 8 sessions after which we terminate the sessions. It is essential to terminate.
There are multiple research based approaches in therapy one of which is solution focused brief therapy. SFBT must end after 5 sessions. The here and now is a crucial part of therapy irrespective of the modality. We focus on what the client wants to focus on.
    2. We are trained to handle clinical clients and non clinical clients differently so we don't always handle clients with anxiety or depression. and relating to the client's problems isn't ethically right.
I am very curious to know about the coaching practice and ethical boundaries and how training works in the coaching field. I'd like to see a video on this.
Good content otherwise, I agree on the age part.

Hello love, thank you for your corrections!
I have heard of SFBT and also done a couple of sessions. Is the 5 sessions a standard globally? When I worked with my therapist, she didn't mention the limit so I was unaware. I've had multiple friends seeking therapy for 2+ years so I guess the legal systems differ from country to country.
Agree with your second point, however, I meant you would more likely go to a therapist for mental illnesses like anxiety and depression rather than a coach. Therapists are licensed to deal with those whereas coaches are not.
Ofcourse! For coaching, it is encouraged to share personal life experiences, My clients love it when I do and they have expressed it multiple times. Coaching is more strategic and future focused. I've coached many of my friends but maintained very strict boundaries and different platforms for both coaching conversations and personal ones. That has worked very well.
I mean training is very subjective. I am trained in NLP, positive Psychology and also a Certified Mindvalley Coach. I know a lot of coaches out there who don't have training or credentials but they are transforming people's life and they have amazing social proof so I can't say it's a must. I think it's good to have though so you understand the science behind coaching and powerful questions but being empathetic comes with life experience too and I've seen those coaches do a great job! Hope this answers your questions. Feel free to ask me anything else! Take care love.
