I should mention that GazUI has a key you can bind called select all mass extractors. Which gives you a good overview of all mass assets and their current state of development. I bound it to ctrl+M myself.
Nice video! I play good enough to learn much from this kind of tutorial, but I still like watching it. And there is bound to be something along the lines that I did not know. :) Keep it up!
The only time it really didn't look that good was at the end when he was trying to use twice as much mass as he was producing. Having those extra engies and extra power really gives a lot of flexibility about what to do next. If you are playing setons and you know exactly what you will be doing next you don't need that flexibility and you can optimize the eco even further.
That's true of course, but that means you have to balance ur eco based on that imo and not make less engies. If you have an engineer that can output it's full build capacity, it's relatively worth more than if you'd put an engineer on factory that can only utilize 1/3 of it's build capacity.
what do you mean when you say build capacity? is that the 3rd number after the acu's displayed emergy and mass? - the one with no indicator of its meaning? i think it was 10 for him and 20 for the plant. i wish there was a manual or something..
thanks for all your help with learning about Economy and mass,, and so'on just finished an online skirmish and i won the match in under 20 mins lol :) thanks XD
I thought you might want a break from FA. Check out this vid: /watch?v=7cdkqJN2rxI&feature=plcp Also, what about an economy vid for navy/air maps? I noticed on the wiki that naval units can be quite a drainer on the eco, the factories are low energy, high mass, and you usually have some time to tech before an enemy fleet can roll in, so could you ask a pro naval player to give us some pointers? Great vid, btw.
Maybe I was paying close attention at the wrong time then. In setons I think you do need alot of flexibility but most good players are just so drilled in that map that they will have a counter ready for 90% of the non-straightforward tactics that their opponent could use, so people stop using them, which makes the gameplay fluctuate much less than in a 1v1. I think this kind of thing could be achieved on any map if you spend enough time.
Yeah, nice video. i just realised, some of the "key" things you said are things i already do. but there was some really useful things in there. i personally think he took way too long to go to tech 2 mass, if he had gone earlier he would have very very quickly out econned the other guy. Nonetheless. i wouldnt like to be against either of those two! id get beat :D
having twice as much -mass as actual mass income and nothing in the storage. why is that something I see on almost any 1v1 player. when you do that it means you are simply throwing away ur energy and all the mass invested into alot of engies. I don't think this is a good example of a good eco. It just shows how a great 1v1 player eco's. I think that's where setons players excel, they're just not as good at multitasking as someone like voodoo. TL;DR watch a setons replay for some impressive eco^^

I already know this stuff, but it never hurts to watch Voodoo play.
These basic econ-tutorial videos are extremely important to new players because if your economy sucks, it won't matter how creative you are.
Thanks again. Also the main FAForever website should be featuring some of this beginner content! Perhaps even in the main client itself.
Yes plz, more specific topic videos...I come here mostly to understand the game better

This was very helpful, thank you.
this is what I have trouble explaining to a lot of people
Thanks for the help

Yes. Cautiously optimistic, but a little skeptical.
awesome

Managing an intact eco AND fighting off an enemy isn´t just the same as playing Seton´s Air position, don´t you agree? ;)
TA4life can you read ?
google faforever
