Nostalgia critic and others exept Adam olinger thinks that this is just cheesy and not so good but this is even better than the original. The only reason critics think that 32 version is better is because it is a part of history and more historically accurate? Because i did some research and apart from the scroll of thoth , the Stephen sommer duology is more historically accurate because they hired to have an Egyptolygist on site and Arnold vasloo actually spoke anicent egyptian that the Egyptolygist wrote for him in a way he can say it. The original was good not bad , but the remake is much better . I had a crush on all the main characters- Rachel Weisz, Brendan Fraser, John Hannah, whomever played Imhotep, Anacksunamun and Ardeth Bay. Still one of my favourite movies ever.
@@TheMacKosh Agreed! And Godsmack's I Stand Alone was and still is epic sounding. I remember being so shocked when The Rock showed up in that music video. Still love The Mummy films and the first Scorpion King. Mummy 3 could've been better than it was, especially with Jet Li as a villain.
It was a very good movie for Summer Blockbuster, masterpiece comparing those we are getting now. A childhood favorite! (although the scarabs still give me nightmare)
I spent the better part of my teen years unable to watch this movie because of the scarabs. I was probably too young when I watched it the first time...
Yeah. I saw the trailer for Doom Patrol. Initially I was loathing to see the trailer, but when I saw Brendan Fraiser in the movie as part of the main cast I was like, "Oh yeah! I think I'll be seeing this movie specifically for him!".
Well, he got old (and fat). And he was mainly casted for being an eye-candy for the ladies (not saying he's not a brilliant actor. just saying that's what he was casted for by casting directors).
@@HVBRSoF More like he was spending too much time in the hospital because of the demands of being an action hero and it was fucking up his body. Or mourning his mother's death. Being sexually assaulted (allegedly) by HFPA president, which likely led to him being blacklisted. Or having a son on the autism spectrum. There's a lot of stuff going on, to say he's not getting jobs cuz he's old and fat is disingenuous.
I'm so happy to see him. I'm watching trust just bc he is in it and it's great. For the person saying that he is just eye candy, you sound jealous. He actually has great acting chops. Yes, he is a pretty face (even today) but he backs it up with talent. I'd watch a new version of the mummy with today's Brendan Fraser before I'd watch the Tom cruise version.
I liked the poster for the new one because they wrote the name of Tom Cruise directly under the title. The first time I saw it I read it through and it came out as "The Mummy Tom Cruise" 😅
I had a huge crush on Brendan when this came out, I printed a photo of him wearing just a fig leaf on the schools computer and my teacher caught me with it and waved it around saying 'You can have this photo of a naked man back after class!' Making everyone laugh! 😂
Loved the scene where Brendan Fraiser holds the cat right up to Imhoteps face, and the cat hisses at the mummy to scare it off, AND THAT WORKS!?!? Pure entertainment, 90's style.
That Benny scene at the end where he gets trap with all those treasures and beetles. Gave me sleepless nights. Good thing there is Rachel Weisz to counter the curse.
Ok, Fraser was one of my favorites. I would watch anything he was in, I even liked Georg. He had the look of badass, the charm of spy, and was also very funny. damm I miss him
My mates and I snuck into this film when it first came out. For a bunch of 9 year old boys it was the most glorious thing we’d ever seen!! It’s never lost that childhood magic for me.

@@utkarsh2746 If you think about it, its kind of like Deadpool but 20 years ago. Funny protagonist. Totally self aware and makes fun of tropes. Lots of shooting. Immortal main character.
Nathaniel Foga Yep. Made a totally awful movie somewhat fun by his presence. Like Will Smith and Independence Day. Some actors are just beyond charming when embracing the cheese they are in.
I bet Dark Universe would've worked if they started with a different monster movie, and just had Brendan Fraser come in at the credits Nick Fury style.
I don't know if it would have worked... You still have to come up with a movie that doesn't suck. But they definitely would have had a much stronger foundation if they would have folded this movie into their cannon. :)
They did try with another movie. Dracula Untold was supposed to be the start of the Dark Universe, but it sucked and it bombed. So they wiped the slate clean and put everything into The Mummy, which could've been good UNTIL they cast Tom Cruise who made them rewrite it to be more heroic. Sofia Boutella is criminally underrated
Probably the only movie I know where the protagonist perfectly tosses a full chair at his best bud Beni's back, then picks him up and lifts him towards the ceiling fan while questioning him.

That wouldn't be a punition for me i loved the Scorpion King. I think it's one of The Rock's best movie along with the Fast and Furious franchise and Jumanji.
I love The Scorpion King!
But not the feature film, the direct to DVD sequels...
HONESTLY!!! LMFAO
Okay while we're here can we just acknowledge how Rick O'Connell was straight up serving as a Captain in the French Foreign Legion????? Dude's lived a full life at the START of the movie!
One of my favorite movies of all time! I've seen it over 1,000 times, no exaggeration. I can quote it word for word. It is the best, Mummy movie ever. I loved me some late 90's Brendan Fraser!!!

One of the best films i saw growing, even now if its on TV i always leave it on despite watching 100's of times now.
It's on Netflix
I rewatch it a lot on Netflix.
It’s a forever classic!!!
It’s a forever classic!!!
I had a crush on all the main characters- Rachel Weisz, Brendan Fraser, John Hannah, whomever played Imhotep, Anacksunamun and Ardeth Bay. Still one of my favourite movies ever.
Arnold Vooslo (Ihmotep), Manuela Velázquez (the beautifull Anksunamun), Oded Fehr (Ardeth Bay).

The Scorpion King was awesome! The sequels not so much... ugh
Hey first one was AWESOME especially when you watch with the rocks commentary 🤣👍😊
@@TheMacKosh Definitely watched it for Kelly Hu cooch shots LOL!
@@theblocksays that scene when she rises out of the water... I was rising too!!
I always had nightmares from the scene they show at 3:46.
Man this stuff was THE Horror of my late childhood/early teens XD
Edit: typo
All my family laugh at me because this was the only film that gave me nightmares! Fucking scarabs
I'm just so happy to see Brendan Fraser again, both in this trailer and Doom Patrol
Yeah. I saw the trailer for Doom Patrol. Initially I was loathing to see the trailer, but when I saw Brendan Fraiser in the movie as part of the main cast I was like, "Oh yeah! I think I'll be seeing this movie specifically for him!".
@@adamgray1753 it's a TV show and it's amazing
and he's bloody awesome in Doom Patrol as well.
His performance in Doom Patrol is definitely Emmy worthy, it’s that good!!
The alternative name should have been "Indiana Jones part 4, The Version You Actually Enjoyed"

yes!!! he needs to say this
That's what Star Wars fans are thinking about you right now, you are the chosen one, not Rian
Cristian Martinez Another one of you guys?
The coolest Endgame line, along with :"Let's kill him properly this time."
Brendan Fraser was a 90's movie legend. Viewers lost out hard when Hollywood turned their back on this guy.
Well, he got old (and fat). And he was mainly casted for being an eye-candy for the ladies (not saying he's not a brilliant actor. just saying that's what he was casted for by casting directors).
Right now he's brilliant in Doom Patrol.
Ya'll forgot about his gold-digging ex-wife. Poor guy never saw it coming.
First 2 Mummy movies were the best. The third is a mess and the new version is even more
I liked the poster for the new one because they wrote the name of Tom Cruise directly under the title. The first time I saw it I read it through and it came out as "The Mummy Tom Cruise" 😅
The new reboot's horrible plot cause nightmares for me entire month
I always wanted to name my kid Amunet and now it’s associated with that steaming pile. I’m hoping too few people saw it to remember.
I liked the third one. I thought it was cool.
@@christianschoff2490 It was a good movie, not having Rachel Weisz in it kind of ruined it for me.

Lmao mate

clare that’s so funny. He was handsome. But the Arab guy with the long hair is way hotter
Simpler times
I watch the movie like 1000 times and never notice that they really say ancient so many times. This will change so much my perspective from now on 😅
This could be a new drinking game! Drink every time they say Ancient :D
Kinda like how in the original Star Wars trilogy you don't notice how many times they say 'destiny' until someone points it out to you.

@@doomy_mcdoomerson what have u done to me
Loved the scene where Brendan Fraiser holds the cat right up to Imhoteps face, and the cat hisses at the mummy to scare it off, AND THAT WORKS!?!? Pure entertainment, 90's style.
It doesn't hiss to scare it off, cats e anathema to the demon because they are sacred. The hissing was just for effect on screen.

Ha! I heard Fraser saying this in my mind after the clip with Benny saying he had all the horses too.

There's paper stuffed in there to this day.

I bet Dark Universe would've worked if they started with a different monster movie, and just had Brendan Fraser come in at the credits Nick Fury style.
I agree.
Wow, that would have been awesome!
