Thank you for pointing me to @jonathanleighton1's important lecture on the ethics of suffering th-cam.com/video/4M5fgkWWujg/w-d-xo.html He does not address the ultimate solution to suffering--not procreating, but as someone who has suffered medically (with surprising lack of empathy in hospital ERs) I appreciated hearing this lecture on the ethics of preventing suffering for those who are sentient.
