    This spf is amazing. I have been using it since April this year. I have fair skin and actually enjoy the very slight white cast, it’s a bit brightening! I end up with a dewy finish for sure. I do use a moisturizer underneath though while my skin is damp, let dry about 10-15 minutes, then apply this. It is kind of soothing it seems! I understand that it contains 3% glycerin which is quite a bit for any formula considering the average is .5-1% usage rate. Very moisturizing, soothing, feels great even at the end of the day, a great value, it’s just lovely. Nothing fancy like a lot of spfs nowadays with antioxodants, etc. but that can easily be taken care of with serum and moisturizer first. I order from the US via amazon UK; shipping was inexpensive, took about 2 weeks to arrive but that’s okay. I never run out of this stuff! Thanks for making a review!

      Hey Ashlynn, thanks for leaving such an informed, thought out comment! :) I agree that the only thing you need an SPF to do is be a great SPF which this is. I think it's hard to knock this product, especially at the price point and think almost anyone could use this quite happily although I will confess that I'm never going to be a fan of any white cast but in this case it's hardly a deal breaker. I love that you love it so much and taking the time to leave such positive feedback! :D

    I use the SPF30 Alterist and it's great - I sometimes mix the Boots foundation drops in with it and that works very well.
    And the 30 and 50 are both unperfumed.

      Hey Lynn :) Good point - I tend to overlook whether things are perfumed or not because it's not at the top of my list of things to check so thanks for highlighting it. I have heard good things about the Boots foundation drops, perhaps they're something I should look into...

    Thank you for the wonderful review❤ I just wanted to ask, do you use an independent moisturizer _before_ applying this sunscreen? Or do you rely on the sunscreen to moisturize?

    • @AnnetteGiroux
      @AnnetteGiroux  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the kind comment :) I am on a continual hunt for a moisturising sunscreen - it's hard to find. So far, I've had the most luck with the Mimitika sunscreen and find that works very well as a moisturiser. But on days when my skin feels very dry, I do have to moisturise first, in a separate step. My personal philosophy is to try and use as few products in my routine as possible so I shall continue to look for sunscreens that moisturise well. Sorry for the ramble, hope this helps!

    I just got this and to get to the point …I found it is brilliant …I have had a bad breakout since feb..and had 2 courses of antibiotics …loads of creams from doctor and tried Amazon creams …seen this on Amy Tv channel and said what the heck …I got it …it’s cheap and cheerful …but omg …it’s brilliant and my dry eczema skin is going away ….it won’t work for everyone but for the price …please try this cream ❤

    A really nice informative review especially when it came to how one may apply it.
    Have u tried the SPF 30 one too, if so, hw different are they when it comes to application and the end result.

    • @AnnetteGiroux
      @AnnetteGiroux  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Zaf, I haven't tried the SPF 30 one so I can't comment on the difference I'm afraid. I'm about to film a handful of update videos and one of them will mention that in my ongoing quest to find a moisturising SPF, so far the Mimitiki (also SPF 50) one gets my vote. I really like its application and end result but I would say it's one for dry and combo skin at best - I don't think many people with oily skin would like it.

    Is that really safe bc it‘s so cheap 200ml botle only 9€. I bought Biore UV 50ml for 10€ it was expensive. And other auncreens also expensive.

    • @AnnetteGiroux
      @AnnetteGiroux  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Sabr, I'm not a cosmetic chemist or any kind of expert but I'm confident this is safe to use. Sunscreen ingredients are not expensive - it's the formulation, packaging and marketing that increases the cost of a product. Also, my understanding is that there are EU regulations that need to be met in order for a product to make SPF claims. In the UK, drugstore and supermarker own brand sunscreens are just as inexpensive to purchase. My personal view is that the more money you spend on a sunscreen, the nicer it should be to use :)

      @@AnnetteGiroux I have noticed that some people are getting bottles with 'Not for sale' written under the sticker barcode on amazon, including my parents. Any idea why this is happening? It puts me off the otherwise amazing product!

    • @AnnetteGiroux
      @AnnetteGiroux  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@louisabooth8059 Hi Louisa, gosh I haven't heard of this. I can imagine a situation where it says something like 'Not for resale' or 'Not to be sold separately' as, as far as I know, they are sold in pairs on Amazon. I can only suggest that you double-check that Altruist is the actual seller on Amazon and not a third party. Or perhaps contact Altruist directly with photos to ask if they know what's going on? I can understand why it's off-putting but I'm afraid I don't know what may be going on - hope you're able to figure it out though!

    does it sting your eyes or did you not put it near your eyes? thx

    • @AnnetteGiroux
      @AnnetteGiroux  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I couldn't remember as I'm currently using the Klairs UV Essence but I used the Altruist this morning to test for you. I tend not to use skincare around my eyes because I know it will 'travel' there and I never use anything other than cleanser on my eyelids. However, I use the Altruist right up to my lower lash line today and it didn't sting. Although this isn't something I would normally do, my guess is that this sunscreen can be used by most people around the eye area but as with anything, what's true for me may not be true for you so I can only suggest you try it but go gently! Hope this helps :)
