you know, for such a silly and comical game, there is a pretty dark backstory to Carmageddon. A vision of a distant future that has lost all signs of a moral compass, a culture that revels in violence and brutality. This song, reflects the unapologetic and disparity of the world of Carmageddon. Absolutly perfect. Though this game was originaly intended as a Deathrace 2000 game so no wonder those themes are threre
I've always enjoyed this aspect aswell. It's likely a real sport aswell that people can bet money on who survives given some of the cars are numbered. I've loved the idea of helicopters dropping the huge walls down over roads and encasing a specific region, pitting six psychopaths against each other to the death with any peds unlucky enough to be caught in the middle of it with very little police resistance to stop them. NEEDS a new game, one that can serve as a staple for the vehicular combat genre. I'd love a Carma game with continued updates with new cars and maps and I'd happily pay for it. New vehicle combat games come out that try to be edgy as though it hasn't existed but they'll never be as good as Carma.. I really hope THQNordic revives this game in the future. Nearly 5K hours in Max Damage and I'm still not bored.
I had the "censored" version of the game, with zombies instead of pedestrians, and the manual featured a full backstory for it: in this version, IIRC, the world cascaded into an eco-catastrophe of sorts that plunged planet Earth into anarchy, filled it with dangerous zombies, and forced sane people to live in reclusion. During all of this, the U.D.S.A. ("United and Democratic States of America", lol!) experienced the phenomenon of car enthusiasts that would race and drive like crazy thru the zombie-ravaged cities, splattering the revenants into itty-bitty giblets! The U.D.S.A. government thought of this as an effective solution to the zombies problem, and so turned it into a fully official form of sport, with tournaments and all that! No such backstory, or any backstory, seems to appear in the original, uncensored game. I've not played this game since I was 18 - that is, when I started studying for my driving license!! 😂😂😂 I probably was scared of some "negative influence" or something!!! But, apart from never injuring anyone with my car in 20 years, I remember Carmageddon as one of the most epic and absolutely BONKERS games I've ever played!!
Yeah, the games are awesome, but I always felt that a more serious and brutal version would be cool as well... (No deconstruction, thinking about the implications of the violence, please, but something more serious and violent)
This is the version I originally knew and loved. Grew into a massive Fear Factory adoration in the end (sae them live 7 times so far), but the carmageddon voiceless soundtrack got me hitched. Both versions are golden. F*ck, I miss the days that tje soundtrack to a game could get me completely riled up. On the other hand, I'm a 38 year old relic, so that just won't happen to me anymore. Sigh. The good ol' days right!
Burton C. Bell always haunts these tunes somewhere no matter if its music only mix or not.He is the heart and soul of the Ghostbusters. I mean,Fear Factory.
This game was my first dip into full-blown rebelion. I was 11. This game was illegal where I'm from and couldnt be purchased in stores. But it could be purchased in the country next to mine. Someone had gotten a hold of several copies. I bought one. This game kickstarted my process to being a rebelious teenager. This game was so completely different from others of its time. It was unapologetic, brutally honest to a fault, and didn't try to mince words or sugar coat its nature. It was refreshing, new, and aggressively potent to someone at my age.
Carmageddon was the first game I ever played that had metal in it. Never heard metal in Utah in the 80's. That changed like fire after this game. Cant even remember how many years I spent upgrading those stupid murder cars... Good times...
Carmageddon Funsize rocks! My friends were always asking "wtf are you playing bro????" lmao, good times. Glad this game was brought to our generation aswell, one way or another!
Tried Reincarnation after most bugs were fixed, and it still fails big time compared to the original Carmageddon. Controversial as it may be, this deserves to be called a classic.
so happy i was able to play carma back in the mid 90s as a kid and not be living in a world where it was banned! what a wank world to live in where it was banned.
I never played this as a child as this game was banned in the UK when I was growing up (was 11 at the time) or I was too young to play (which is quite weird as I got to play DOOM, Quake, Wolfenstien 3d even Duke Nukem 3D etc when I was younger but this was a no go for me) but now as an adult should I get this on Steam version there two version one is Carmageddon: Max Pack with has the first three games which only cost £5.99 or should I get Carmageddon: Reincarnation (which give me the new game plus Carmageddon: Max Pack *FREE*) for £19.99
a few years ago i got carma 1+2 on gog.com but when reincarnation came up for pre release i bought it on steam since you cant have too much carma, and recently i got a mail saying i got TDR;2000 for free on steam and carma 1+2 as a gift wich i instantly gave to my self. screw shareing
I had the best nightmares after playing hours and hours and hours of Carmaggedon... luckily at that time I still did not have a driving license ahahahahah
i could say i was sorry but that would be a big lie :). iwe always avoided the soundtrack from carmageddon while driving myself, i worry that in a weak moment id cross the curb and start running down pedestrians :)
You know what you did? I have to find my copy of Carmageddon and fucking play it. And it's fucking bad, because i have to write a paper due friday. But noooo! I had to press play! I. Fucking. Had. To.

THE GEM of my childhood.

Red Alert 2's intro will always be my favorite, but holy shit Carmageddon's intro comes in as a close second.
Such a bad ass soundtrack

pihip absolutely a classic. I spent hours and hours playing this on my pic growing up. Reincarnation feels like a joke.
Is it wrong to challenge someone in Mortal Kombat while this theme is playing in the background?
King Gooch The Troll King not at all
It would probably be an intense fight, as this music gives flow and power.
You may even welcome them to the Netherrealm if you so please, though beware if they're a martial arts movie star.
