    I as a dealer when buying diamonds from clients, I pay more for well branded names, I have zero problem moving a BiG T &Co because of its trusted history as well as it's known brand name. Big T stones may not be the very best of the best of the best stones all the time, they are however the best of the best all the time.

    Are their diamonds nice? Of course they are but I will say this ... next time you are walking in a Tiffany store and noting how the diamonds "dance" take a gander up at the ceiling and note the amount of spot lighting they are under. ;)

    @Pri06 Hey no prob. Yes. Tiffany does have nice diamonds cut for them. Way back in the late 1800's when the "American Ideal Cut" was invented by Henry Morse Tiffany hired (or stole) some of Morse's cutters to cut for them and when Tolkowsky refined the numbers further had those cut as well. Glad you enjoy your diamond. YOU SHOULD! :)

    Tiffany's and Swarovski have one thing in common: the lighting in their stores. Look at the lighting and the background where they show their gems and you'll undestand why they are so brigh in the store and not outside. Wellcome to basic marketing people.

      My Tiffany’s ring has stunning fire. All jewelry stores have bright spotlighting like that.

    Thanks for this! I was actually quite curious about this because i currently have a Tiffany Ring with a Tiffany Diamond and wanted to know the differences between these two especially because I do start questioning if my diamond is really that great or not comparative to the H&A when i've seen the other comparisons of round brilliants which you carry.

    Do you still have the ASET images for the Tiffany diamond? Curious what it looked like.

    • @DiamondInfoMan
      @DiamondInfoMan  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's a great question.. I looked into our archives and I couldn't find an ASET image on that diamond from several years ago. We have another Tiffany diamond in stock, but it's in a setting. From my understanding, Tiffany only sells their diamonds in settings, so to find one loose (for an ASET inspection) is rare. But if we come across another loose one in the future, I'll definitely make another video of it with the ASET included.

    @DiamondInfoMan  13 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    @valleeny Why is the Tiffany not a Hearts & Arrows? Not sure how to answer your question as I do not work for them nor their QA. It just isn't. You can see the critical differences (H&A imagery, ASET, DiamXray, etc.) between the 2 diamonds via the urls provided description above.

    Sorry Victoria but this is not true in any sense of the word. When it comes to dispersion/fire there are in fact 2 predominant colors seen which are blue and yellow. Hearts on Fire doesn't do 6 whereas the rest 2. That is blatantly false and in fact when a diamond is cut to the highest optics will exhibit not 6 but 7 colors. Remember R.O.Y.G.B.I.V? ;)

  • @DiamondInfoMan
    @DiamondInfoMan  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nope. As long as the color is not obviously yellow and the clarity not impacting the transparency you will see the differences in each diamonds ability to grab and relfect light. One or even a few color/clarity grades won't make a difference.

    I'm not sure how many Tiffany diamonds you've appraised before but let me just say this. This video is no dig on Tiffany. Does Tiffany have Hearts & Arrows diamonds? I'm sure if we were to dig we'd find some however their QA isn't as tight as other companies. You'll even find "Very Good's" amongst the mix.

      Good Old Gold That is true. I have a triple excellent Tiffany’s but almost opted for a very good because it was a slightly larger diamond. In the end, I went for the better cut. There are a lot of very good cuts in Tiffany’s diamonds so I can’t disagree with you there 👍

      The GOG H&A is a 1.10ct I SI1 which should currently sell for the bank wire price of around $6,400. The Tiffany diamond is a 1.03ct H VS2 and although I'm not sure what Tiffany charges for something like that, I've heard from customers that they place a heck of a markup on their diamonds.

    What about the ASET scope? Do they leak light? Which leaks more?

    • @DiamondInfoMan
      @DiamondInfoMan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great question. Hearts and Arrows diamonds leak light to the minimal extent. I just studied several Tiffany diamond certifications while browsing the web and the math tells me that they are subject to having light leakage. I'm sure there are some that don't, but unlike Hearts and Arrow diamonds, it's a coin toss. For the price, you'd think they are cut to perfection, but the name on their brand is their main draw in my opinion.

    How can you say if diamond is not real? Does African diamond 0.2 carat is good?

    • @DiamondInfoMan
      @DiamondInfoMan  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are diamond testers that can let you know if a diamond is real or not. An educated trusted source would have to inspect the diamond in person to know if it's good or not.

    This is your top of the line diamond but not tiffanys ! hearts compare from that perspective. Say what you want but when I walk into a tiffany store all diamond have plenty of fire and flash loads of personality. when you walk in all the diamonds in the store dances when you just walk by never and I mean never walked into a jewlery store and see all dancing diamonds. most stores have dead ass diamonds without any type of sparkle or life activity, or personality.

    • @bobbilko09
      @bobbilko09 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The issue is that Tiffany does not have top of the line and average diamonds. All the diamonds are held to the same cut grade standards. The only differences are with the clarity(the inclusions) and color, neither of which are assessed in this video. The reason the diamonds in the Tiffany store "dazzle" is because of 2 things. 1. Their stores are designed beautifully and meticously with the best spot lighting. 2. Other jewelers have spot lightning too, but almost no other jeweler has diamonds in their showcases! They use cubic zarconias in their showcases. Images if they had diamonds in all the items, that would be $500k-1m worth of diamonds in each store. Most stores can't afford that, so they use cubic zarconias for showcasing. Tiffany's can afford to only have diamonds because well they are loaded, and their business model is different because they only sell finished jewelry, as in you cannot buy a loose diamond and customize it.

      Lol your paying for the name/design and rent for the store. A master jewler can replicate a Tiffany's store product and instead of paying for the name you can invest that money on better quality stones. Melt down the two and that Tiffany's product is not worth its weight in gold.
      It's like going into any high fashion shop you get a feeling that you will not get at a reseller, resellers can offer bigger discounts cause your not paying for all the other expenses this shops need to cover.

    • @DiamondInfoMan
      @DiamondInfoMan  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ***** Reality is that the Tiffany diamond will command more simply because of the name. Technically speaking though the Hearts & Arrows *should* command more as it is cut to more precise specs than the Tiffany and has Superior Optical Symmetry. When we took this diamond in on consignment we did not offer it for sale for more than our Hearts & Arrows.
