I moisturize my hair every other day with essential oils. I mix equal parts of jojoba oil, tea tree oil, Hask Placenta (protein for strengthening), and a drop of peppermint oil. You can order the oils online (i.e. Amazon)
Thank you! Whatever color I like on the box, I always go a shade lighter, because I know my natural hair color is really dark and probably will not achieve the exact color I initially chose.
I've never had my locs interlocked, but the process looks like the maintenance will last a lot longer than traditional maintenance. I'll stick to traditional maintenance since unkempt roots after a week or so do not bother me. I only retwist my hair with every wash (every two to three weeks) and until the next wash, I just let my hair grow out freely. I think this helps with the reduction of thinning edges since my. I started my locs with a comb twist, which was done at an African beauty salon.
Thx 4 this loc coloring vid. I took the plunge this wkend to color 2yrs/4 inches new growth of mix gray hair with a box honey blonde. I luv the color great call frm u to choose a shade lighter, thanks so much.
This is lovely i was wondering how do you gage the shade of blonde? as it always looks diff from the box. Ive dyed part of my front locs blonde then went over half of them with an auburn effect. i get a lot of compliments thanks for the inspiration :)
Love you too sis xoxox. I'm going back to my original blonde after this ;-) And yes, Ramon was so embarrassed, but I told him he shouldn't have crashed my video, lol
Ps. Oops! My bad the color was 2 boxes of Dark n Lovely #379 Golden Bronze. Thnx 4 for the tip to pick color 2 shades lighter then you think. I divided like you did front where most gray I did 1st. than back w 2nd box. The color came out very close to what want. Thank so much. you look great and now so do I :-)
How do you combat the dryness of coloring.Ive always colored my hair even before locs but Im ALWAYS working against having dry hair.It doesnt help that Im not in the US so get certain products/brands.Are there natural products you use for moisture?
I have had my locs for over 5 years now and I work in a corporate environment, what styles do you suggest that would be easy and great for the office? I have an outgoing personality as well and like easy and simple,
Thanks! Adding a couple of drops of peppermint oil stimulates the scalp and hair growth. Check out my FAQ About My Locs video for more details on my oil mixture.
Didn't ready any other comments, but do you ever have breakage from the color? I know a professional should do it, but I'm scared of the dye. When I wore perms, it broke off. I do know people with locs that had breakage. Any suggestions? Thanks for the video! Love them all!!
I've never had a loc beak off, but I have experienced thinning. I combined a couple of locs in the front and that was after 5 years of coloring. The most important regimen of caring for colored locs is strengthening and moisturizing. I use protein to strengthen my locs and lightly moisturize every other day with my oil mixture. Check out my FAQ on My Locs video for more details.
Hi, I have been coloring my hair from I went natural in 2003. I started my locs in 2006. I color my hair twice a year also. However, I have recently been experiencing excessive shedding. Have you ever dealt with this situation?
Paula Roper Bacchas Hello, I have not experienced shedding. Try to keep your locs moisturized on a consistent basis. I use my oil mixture every other day, but now I mix it with a lot of water to also keep my locs hydrated.
Im getn my tips dying golden blonde today i hear every body keep saying to keep it moisturize should i do it every day or what? And im very darkskin but im goin wit golden blonde on my loc wut do you think about the golden blonde and im darkskin?
Melanesians are dark-skinned, black, island people in the south pacific with natural blonde hair. So why wouldn't you look okay with blonde tips? Blonde hair is not exclusive to just one race of people. Keep it you and express yourself however you wish :-) Yes, I do recommend frequent moisturizing with colored locs. Check out my FAQ video on my loc for more details.
Thanks ;-) I highly suggest you consult a professional first, before you attempt to color your own locs. Ask for color-treated hair care tips before you venture off on your own.
I was little hesitant at first, but just went for it and learned how to take care of my locs.

You can always rock a cute bun in the corporate world, dress it up or down. Also, crinkles are very nice and can turn into a cute messy/curly bun.
I go to a stylist for my color, I'm just not that brave! Your locs are beautiful just like you!
Which brand of golden blonde did you use?
Thanks! I try to honor any requests ;-)
What other brands do you suggest?
Great Job!!

My locks are blonde in the front and a dark brown in the back. Do you just touch up the roots only. Or the roots and the locks?
Tamed100810 Only the roots, I don't want to weaken and create brittle locs.
+GrizzleRocsLocs ok thanks!! How often do you touch up your roots?
Twice a year. In July (or early August) before I go back to work and January for the new year.
Very pretty i love your vids.
Thanks ;-)
Lol! Thanks ;-)
Favors Kandi from Housewives.

I'm dropping by your crib so that you can hook my color up chile.
