What a great guy and teacher Ian is! The most informative/helpful Toastmasters TH-cam video I have seen. I would like a copy of Ian's PDF. Is anyone paying attention to this message feed anymore?

Answering table topics can be awfully nerve wracking, however it doesn't need to be difficult. The key is practice; so the first thing to do is quit escaping every table topics question that comes your way and start leaping to the floor, bowling your audience over with enthusiasm! It is the best method of improvement. I would also recommend practice getting to the red light i.e. use all of your available time and remember when you begin with a Pause like Ed Tate the clock shouldn’t start until the first word of gesture. - Jim Simms VPM at #CarrollwoodToastmasters in #District48Toastmasters

I like this video so far, but as a new person, the whole 'giving a message vs giving a speech' is a lot of pressure to put on people. I see people insert all kinds of life advice, feel good messages in their speeches even though they might be a little far-reaching. But how am I supposed to worry about useful messages to share when I'm just trying to write and present my speech about the topic of the project?

a cheap lapel mic would allow the speaker to walk around and no variation in sound - great presentation on table topics though
