I just got this 1910 sewing machine with a extra set of drawers. Can’t stop staring at how beautiful it is! So excited to learn with this machine!
A friend just gifted me with this beautiful machine and I can't wait to restore and use it.
Old sewing machines/treadles are AWESOME. The fiancée and I have a 1926 Singer 66 in a table, a 1930s 99 which is electric, and a 1956 Model 15 which currently is motorized, but we'll be putting it in a table and making it foot powered. She got the 15 which was her grandma's, then we found the 66 in the table plus the 99 for sale for only $60! The treadle and 66 only needed cleaning and oiling. The 99 needs some work when I find time.
We have the same exact one. Aug 1910. 7 months after grandma was born
I'm now 63 years old and this is what I learned to sew on when I was a little girl. Started out with doll clothes. My machine is a G series made in 1910. I have made everything on it. My daughters prom & pageant dresses, and my oldest daughter's wedding dress. It still runs like a charm. I even have a button hole attachment for it. I've never tried that though.
Donna - My wife (58 yo) learned how to sew on one of these also. She say she cried and cried when her parents sold it. Today we bought her the 1910 Model G, the wood is beautiful and it only needs a belt to run. I'm sure you know how happy she is!

My Mum used to have this Treadle sewing machine.I still know how to put threads, and the needle etc. I cried. I don't know what happen to her sewing machine and may be she took it to New Zealand.She loves it very much. I cried remembering my Beautiful Mother died in New Zealand. I have to go this year to visit he or may be next year, because of the COVID.

Sometimes I wonder how many things were made in this machine how many people had sawn on it I’m fortunate that I got it 😊

Was just given a 1910 singer.. Have no clue what to do with it tho... I can't even use a modern sewing machine, haha. Yours is beautiful, guess I should dust mine a little, lol

Yes, a little dusting along with some liquid gold goes along way. I also used a bit of rust remover on the metal base and black permanent marker to hide a few scrapes. Good luck with yours. I have this machine , i love using treadles bit this one i cant figure out how to thread it , and how to keep the belt on while closing it up or if the belt needs to be detached each time i close it
is the "belt" the thing that ties the upperpart with the lower and it has metal inside the thick thread? because i need one too for my 1921 singer. im trying to learn by watching these vids how to use it. but the best part is that it has the original little lamp and its in mint condition and works, a 100yr old lightbulb works! :D

Yes, you will need the belt that goes around the top of the unit and around the bottom treadle. That is great that yours has the light with the original light bulb still working! You should be able to find a belt for it online. I had an extra belt but sold it. Wishing you continued success!

SInger has most of these model manuals available for a free download. It isn't the original manual but is a retyped version in a pdf format. I just got one for my Great Grandmothers G7492028 Model. I don't know what year mine is... but it was a big help! If you can't find it, just call the toll free number to singer and they will help you locate the manual!

Jan. 11, 2019----Look at Craigslist under sewing machines for sale. You'll get a lot of electrics, but there are the foot pedaled ones being sold all the time. There's 2 for sale in my area and both work, though looks like they're missing the rubber belt. But for $50 & $75 each, thinking of buying both. And no, don't remember the manufacturer. Sorry.
Forgot...both come with complete cabinets.
You can find them for surprisingly little. Especially 1950s-1960s models, they were very plentiful during those years and therefore don't go for as much as what you'd think.
