- Learn Carnatic Music from experienced teachers in Gurukula Series
www.kalakendra....
"Gurukula", a product that offers step-by step lessons in Classical Carnatic Music. Presented by Prof. Mysore Nagamani Srinath, an acclaimed concert musician of international repute and a disciple of the maestro, Ramnad Krishnan, these DVDs and Audio CDs lead the user in a systematic manner through the fundamentas of classical carnatic music.
Following the traditional system of Gurukula teaching where the students listen, learn and repeat what the the teacher teaches, these DVDs and audio CDs caters to the needs of not only beginners in music but also serves as a valuable resource for senior students of music, teachers of music and music lovers as well.
The elementary lessons (sarali varisai, dhatu varisai, jantai varisai, alankaras) have been presented in full, as also certain select geethams, shlokas, jatiswarams, varnams, keertanam, thillanas and padams. Prof. Nagamani Srinath also guides the user through the nuances of manodharma sangeetham (raga alapana, kalpana swara, neraval, tanam and pallavi). Further, this series also takes the user through an audio-visual explanation of certain key theoretical concepts such as nada, sthayi, sapta tala, raga, geetham, janaka raga and janya raga, jatiswara and tana varnam.
Accompanying each of the DVDs is a booklet in English with the complete text and notations of songs taught.

Very good
Thank you Madam 🙏
Very nice madam
very good teaching 😁😊
Nice teaching ))
Can you point me to any recordings of the teacher performing?
I also notice that her intonation is much more subtle than that of the pupils, who seem influenced by Western 12-tone equal temperament.
+jsleith You can search the net for "Nagamani Srinath".
Typically, students are not taught "gamakas" (or embellishments to the notes) when they start learning music. So, they mostly sing plain notes or svaras. The teacher however can sing with subtle variations as it is in-grained in his/her music due to their experience and practice.
🙏
oh! superb
Goodteacher

Respected mam , one thing is confusing me , why speed of singing swar changes and go faster while ending the each Raga ?
+Sagar Mehta I think it is done to give practice to the students to sing in 3 speeds
