I'm seeing so many people commenting on loads of American Six's accents and I get that its not what we are used to but I remember when it was first announced, they got flooded with comments saying they better not do an English accent. Pick a lane. Different doesn't mean bad, they killed it
I think it’s great that different places are keeping their own accents. The Sydney cast doesn’t sound that different from the og until you hear the line ‘everybody knows that we used to be six wives’. The Australian ‘o’ sound in ‘know’ was so prominent it was equally funny and amazing hearing it 😂
The Tudor accent sounded more like American English than modern British English. It’s stupid and ridiculous to complain about the accent for multiple reasons.
I love it. Anne of Cleves, a docile, homebody, German noblewoman, who barely ever spoke a sentence in English is rapping, twerking, grinding, and singing in gilded leather hot pants... ... ...and whether or not the American cast sounds English- that is their barometer of authenticity.
can we all shut up about the accents? each version of the song is great. and if you say ‘it’s not accurate’ then let’s be accurate. the diversity. henry’s wives were all pale. the outfits. that’s not 16th century clothes. again, everything about this cast is beautiful just like the old one. can we just be respectful and appreciate everyone?
I have watched all versions of this musical and in my opinion they're the best one. Their energy, voices, emotions, and attitude. Also, can we talk about their DANCING? I mean, they can DANCE.
Back at this because I love it, but everyone saying she should have a done an English accent is also incorrect. Cleves was from GERMANY and grew up there, therefore if she was going to do any accent it should be German. Plus, she absolutely killed this
The first one I saw live this cast and I downloaded soundtrack and it was the original! I love both. I love the soprano belting and I noticed the difference in words. I am Canadian so I didn’t actually know about the six wives, it’s not in our curriculum. I learned a lot though and both casts make it very interesting
I love them, i love them so much. Their dynamic as a group was unmatched. Nothing i love more than the two Ann(e)(a)’s are the same height. And everyone is relatively the same height 😂
my dude i think it’s more to do with how the songs were written for English accents and so the American versions don’t work as well with certain rhymes
@@pialestrange5826 okay Anne was German okay. But in tudor England, English people had accents that were similar to the American. Which fun fact is why Shakespeare is better read by an American person. British people lost that accent around the time of industrial revolution.
@@mydude6309 you are right: elizabeth i would have sounded like someone currently living in virginia. however, that's not common knowledge - it would confuse most people if the west end show had american accents, even if it was more historically accurate. the show, to an extent, isn't focused on being historically accurate either; it incorporates modern slang, a dating-app-thing and text messaging - it would only make sense for a modern english accent to be used. also, when broadway shows travel over to the west-end, it's common that the british production will use american accent (for example: heathers). so when the opposite occurs, it's almost offensive to not return the favour, especially with such a blatantly english show.
It’s ironic that English people used to call Ann of Cleves the Ugly Queen. Hopefully she’s in The Great Beyond laughing at the fact that 500 years later Ann of Cleves got the best deal as Queen of England. 🎼🎶 Get Down 💃🏽👸🏼💃🏽👸🏻💃🏽
Where is this? It says mall of America but it also says Broadway, so is this at mall of America in Minneapolis because if so, I don't live that far away and would have loved to see them perform.
if brittney mack asked me to dance, i would simply agree. rip to that guy but i'm different.
Alex W. She asked me to dance during one of the Chicago shows and I just posed because I didn’t know what to do!
OKAY SHE ASKED ME TO DANCE ON MY SHOW AND I IMITATED HER SLAY DANCING AND EVERYONE WENT FERAL

People tend to forget that not all 6 of his wives were British. Some were from other countries....Spain, France, Germany.
2:58 Somehow forgot that was coming.
DANG!
The “Ahah” after that just- well then-
can we all shut up about the accents?

And Aragon was Spanish and Cleves was German 😅🙄
All the accent comments are just people flexing about how they were fans before everyone else 🙄
Did they use feet back then?
agreed
@@marlaphillips4950 yeah really either is historical correct
Who cares about the accent when we have this precious jewel of a Cleves. She is amazing!!!
That last "get down you dirty rascal" HIT DIFFERENT

I feel like cleeves is the only one on stage actually having fun
there supposed to look bored and bland so cleeve is really the center of attention
@@alittlebitofkit8384 ikr i thought that was obvious lol, the queens obviously love their jobs seeing as Andrea couldn't hold back smiling :D
I think it’s because it’s Cleves solo song soooo....
This cast seems a little bit lower energy. Maybe they were just tired
its supposed to be like that
I LOVE THIS ANNA OF CLEVE'S LIKE SHE MAKES THIS ROLE HER OWN BRO
She has the range
brittney mack rlly went off here like 2:58 I MEAN GO OFF SIS DANGGGG
she’s good but dAMN the different accent threw me off i’m so used to the british
Ikr When she was saying Dance floor and Castle
Castle and rascal killed me😂
All of the o, a, r, and i’s are more pronounced in the American accent it’s so different than the original.
well for me it was when she said "and you can't stop me" but it doesn't really matter this performance was amazing
Oof oof oof the accents oof I was caught of guard

To be honest I know someone that's German and majority of the time she doesn't have an accent.
This is my favourite Six's cast, I love them
Seems to weird seeing Sam in this after seeing her in Evita over the summer in London. Such a different role!
I love her energy wow!👏🏻👏🏻
sounds so different without the iconic london accent
I like it. I like all the accents, the British accent, the American and the Australian ❤️❤️❤️
Still an amazing performance :D
I don't think anyone else could have portrayed Cleaves like her, this is AMAZING.
if Brittney Mack even approached me I would simply cry, she’s so gorgeous and one of my biggest crushes and idols🙇🏽♀️
Oh dang. They were sharp. I didn't think I would like our cast after bingeing 2018/19 UK cast....but they were crisp on those dance moves!
When ever you said sharp my music brain thought you said they were out of tune lol.

Omg, omg, omg i can smile any more
They performed at the Mall of America? I could’ve been there! WHY am I only finding out about this now?
The American cast is the best ever.
How to explain to people who have hissy fits over the accent that the American is actually historically accurate.
my dude i think it’s more to do with how the songs were written for English accents and so the American versions don’t work as well with certain rhymes
@@charlietolley3901 that's fair, I do think that some songs do need to be tweaked a bit for american accent.
