The Cure was a pioneer in the Goth Rock scene of the late 70s early 80s. By this time they had kinda turned into Alternative Rock, but they still had some Goth Rock elements. Especially vocally.
Robert Smith (the singer) wrote this for his wife. Despite appearances, he and the band are very down to earth, regular people, who are also legends and in the RNRHOF!
Oh wow so glad you are covering The Cure. Love you and love The Cure. My fav band. Robert Smith is an amazing song writer. He wrote this song for his wife for their wedding.
I first heard the song when watching the video. I knew what to expect from The Cure as visuals back then. But the song had that really cool baseline, I had to get it. Lol
01:45 LOVE the "JAMAL" smushed face! 02:53 "Like a damn vampire, in a cave. I'm surprised he ain't upside down singing!" LMAO! Despite experiencing grief with mom's passing, you definitely made me laugh outlouid today Thank you, Jamal!
80s band- genres are goth rock, post punk, post new wave. I remember when punk was fading it created sub genres, new wave, goth rock and some bands swung towards thrash metal and speed metal
Alternative. That said, Robert Smith, (singer/guitar player), definitely shaped the Goth look. The pale skin, black eyeliner or eye makeup, sometimes black lipstick, black clothes, etc., was the 80's goth look. Anyone that dressed this way, you could bet they were a Cure fan. I'll watch Edward Scissorhands, and think, Johnny stole Robert's look! LOL
Oh man this brings back M.E.M.O.R.I.E.S! One of my favorites! From the 80’s They were new wave 😢 The 80’s were a strange time, man! lol Check out Siouxsie and the Banshees or Violent Femmes ❤
Robert Smith from The Cure and Peter Murphy from Bauhaus are the God Fathers of the Gothic Subculture, but that being said Robert Smith does not consider himself as being Goth, in fact he hates the "Goth" label all together. Fun fact, fans of The Cure are referred to as "Cure Heads".
So cool. Thanks for covering this song. If you could also check out true faith by new order it would be awesome. And more Avenged Sevenfold and Silverchair if you want. Thanks again I love all your content.
In the 80s they were just weird, lol; then they were college music, then Alternative became a thing and all of the emo/goth/whatever came after was pioneered by these guys. Fantastic music...
It’s funny but I’ve never gotten their music and yet when they play clips in movies,it sounds like an awesome tune… From someone who has chronic back pain and serious problems there- best and often tops oxy,is a hot water bottle- not really warm, hot hot ,out the kettle- this is one that I always recommend to everyone, family, friends and everyone else.try it pal 👍👌👌
Love your reviews and reactions for years now, actually - BUT if you're apprehensive about any subject matter. Let that concern go 🤗 Btw yeah Love Song is great ✅️
....Tell you what I know: The Cure was classified as a New Wave/Gothic Band/Post Punk. The had several hits and were considered outsiders to the general music genre. In the day, they were considered very Cool because of the fore-mentioned reasons and because their music was actually....Good!

The Cure is the greatest rock band in my opinion. Their new album is so great too. It is blowing people away.
Robert Smith with his ode to his wife... how his love for her kept him young and complete. Without a doubt the King of New Wave Goth
Alternative- love this song but “Pictures of you” is my favorite. They were my favorite band back in the 90’s. Saw them live at 15
Groovy!!!
The vid is so incredible
@@dukey19941 I think they knew how to give us the vulnerable things we always needed but not always told others about it.

Edward Sissor hands
Think mental patient look
They were trying to look so different and that was their hook
Look up " I dig you" the cure.
idk but i suppose the cave is referencing geologic time, "i will always..."
Emo! Ha! The Cure has been around since 1976. If anything, goths, 'vampires' and emos copied them. They were the OG.
