The best thing I saw about the criticism of Metallica "selling out" with this album was in a Behind the Music or something similar and Newsted said "Yeah we sold out...every show, every night."
I pre ordered this cassette. Couldn’t wait. Day of its release came & I walked to my local record store in desert August heat then walked back home. Till this day I have only heard that album once. The next time I heard a Metallica album in its entirety was 72 seasons. I think their latest is pretty good
When I was 15-16 growing up in los Angeles on a rainy day me and my gf Melissa B. From Glendale put this CD on so her sister in the next room couldn't hear us (spending quality time together) and the CD played all the way thru and we weren't done so we played it again almost 3 hours and 2 nuts later we finally finished.... Good times
Justice was the last Metallica album I bought, back in the cassette days. My younger brother bought the Black Album so I just listened to his copy until I moved on from Metallica. I wouldn't buy another album again until St. Anger (which I'm in the minority of liking!). It wasn't until your video about Master that I went back and bought both MoP and this album on CD and rediscovered how great these guys are! I still have to buy RtL and AJFA and I think 72 Seasons because from what songs I've heard I've liked!
I wasn't really that interested in music until 7th grade (1991-92) and I didn't actually listen to Metallica until 1996 or so. The Black album was one of the only cassette tapes I had and after getting my driver's liscence, thats all that played in my father's truck for a year or so.
