The Merle Haggard opening is no surprise for fans who know the brothers used to open the show for Hag, with Hag’s band no less. Yep, with Norm Hamlet on steel and Merle’s boy on bass. Besides being tremendous talents, the Malpass Brothers are carrying the flag for real country music these days almost all by themselves. Great to see E.T.’s big Epiphone (pre Gibson) still turning out the chords and “Thanks”.
