S: Yes, hello. This is Suga. It's been a while since my last review but I am doing another one but this time it's an album, not an equipment, review. What you see here is BTS' ...
RM: IT'S 2 COOL 4 SKOOL!
S: Ye, that's right. It's BTS' '2 cool 4 skool'. Ye, it is our album, ye. If you look here, this is what it consists of, ye. It's a brand new album that still has the wrap. I personally went and purchased it with my own money, ye. OK, so first I'll explain the contents of the '2 cool 4 skool' album. Firstly... It contains the 'intro: 2 cool 4 skool'. DJ Friz featured in it for us. He is an exclusive DJ at Amoeba Culture so I think it was really fun working with him. Coming in second is 'We are bulletproof pt. 2'. Third, 'Skit: Circle room talk'. Fourth, 'No more dream'. Fifth, 'Interlude'. Sixth, 'I like it'. Seventh, 'Outro'. And 2 hidden tracks. Ye, I'll open it now. Using a knife is dangerous, so you can just use your hands. Yes, so once you open '2 cool 4 skool', you see the black album case with BTS written in gold. I'll flip it open now. Yes. Is it like this? Are you supposed to look at it like this? Yes. On the first page, we have a group photo. When we flip that... There's a track list and another group photo. Then... Leader Rap Monster's photo. Like that... Uh, there's also a flyer about auditions, along with a postcard.
RM: A lot of you, please come!
S: Ye, please do. Anyway, photos are important too but the song explanations are more important so I'll skip the photos. So once you get to the black pages, along with Rap Monster's photo, there's a page that says 'Intro: 2 cool 4 skool ft. DJ Friz'. This doesn't have lyrics so I'll move on. Second, 'We are bulletproof: pt. 2'. While we were working on this song, we put a lot of thought into it and had a lot of fun with it. We've really worked hard during our 3 years in training, just like the lyrics, 'throw a rock if you've done as much as us'. So I think it's a song that we put our blood and sweat into, yes. I, personally, like the lines 'you bought the rapper title because you couldn't sing'. I wrote it. But instead of having the intention to disparage others, I meant to say that we're confident, we've prepared a lot for this. So I wish listeners would interpret it as so. Of course, Rap Monster's rap... it spoke of a lot of thins I wanted to say as well, so I feel the lyrics convey our sincerity.
RM: I wrote them!
S: Ah yes, Rap Monster over there wrote them. Third track. Whoa, a really cool person emerged. Circle room talk. It's actually a skit so there aren't lyrics. However, it is a skit I wish you would enjoy listening to as you listen to the album. I'll move on. This man is really cool. He's handsome, ye. Fourth track, our title song, 'No more dream'. I don't want to think about how we wrote this song really. I can't remember how many times we rewrote and edited it. It's a song that we've put a lot of effort into because we wanted the lyrics to reflect our sincerity. There're lyrics like 'hey kid, what's your dream' and 'career dream number 1, civil servant'. We really wanted to ask teens what their dreams were. I asked the question in my own way through my rap, as did Rap Monster with his own style. I really didn't like how a person may not have a dream during their teens and how their parents would eventually pressure them to become a civil servant (government worker). I didn't like the process of how one becomes a civil servant just like that. That's why I wrote these lyrics. But I don't dislike them. It's a great position. They work hard for the country. It's not an insult, don't misunderstand us. The lyrics express that it's a pity that many students live on vaguely. I personally like the lines 'don't worry about college, you'll still go far'. Honestly, people say that while listening to this song, that it sounds like '90s idol music and lyrics which often asked... why life has made us this way, we're going to rebel! But it's changed into 'Don't worry about college, you'll still go far'. Those lines really convey our sincerity.
RM: I wrote them!!!
S: Rap Monster wrote them, yes. Really, ye. I'm going to far. I think it says it all in that one line. So 'No more dream'. It's a song where we wanted to ask the teens what their dreams were. We also wrote the lyrics, ye. I'll move on. Next is... fifth track 'Interlude'. It's a 52 second long interlude that transitions into 'I like it'. I really like it, ye. Now the 6th track. 'I like it'. Yes, so in this song's case... It's a track that came out quite quickly. It took me 40 minutes to write my part. It's something that can happen in everyday life. Even if it's not specifically over Facebook, it's something most people experience at least once. Only a few years ago it wall all about Cyworld. Nowadays it's KakaoStory, Facebook etc. It could easily happen in anyone's daily lives. Even if it's not exactly with the 'like' button, I feel it's something anyone could've experienced before. I think it's very relatable. Personally... I really like the lines 'shall I click or not', 'your mind is just like a guillotine', 'why can't there be a 'dislike' button' written by Rap Mon.
RM: I wrote it!
S: Yes, I really like this song because of those parts. I feel it can be relatable to either teens or those in their 20's. Honestly, there aren't any songs I'd leave out, but I really like 'I like it'. I feel I wrote lyrics that people can relate to. Now, the seventh song, 'Circle room cypher'. Actually, in this one, members who aren't in the rap line rapped anyway. Yes, I won't mention names but you'll know them once you listen to it. If you ask why we did this, we just wanted to show you that we genuinely love hip hop, and that we aren't kids who are only superficially all 'hip hop hip hop'. To show you that we really enjoy and love hip hop. Being good or bad at it is a secondary issue. It's a track we wish you would enjoy to listen to.
RM: We love you!
S: Yes. So here we have individual shots. And the 'thanks to', which are like letters we each wrote to those we are grateful for and always appreciate. Lastly, it ends with our group photo. So that's what the album is like. As much as we've had difficulties producing this album, we've had fun as well. We tried to make the lyrics relatable but also enjoyable to listen to for teens and those in their 20's, yes. This has been Suga and I'll conclude the BTS' '2 cool 4 skool' album review here.
