WOWWWWW... just the "choose ONE note from first chord, and see WHERE it takes you..." WOWWWWW.. I immediately felt that and can be off and running. Legend. Happy New Year!!!
This lesson is great, Jared. It's helping the info get into my thick, middle-aged skull. Thanks for your patience and great pedagogy. Trying to write my first song and have been banging my head against a wall trying to write a melody over the chord progressions for the first time in my life. This video finally helped me crack the code a bit.
Embellish the ... Super cool. I often write songs on inspiration but i have some unfinished songs. Im looking to UNDERSTAND ways to create melodies OUTSIDE OF INSPIRATION. Now, this " embellish, etc part ...? It sure gets me. Ill be back to understand you better. God bless you.
as a guitarrist, the melodies whithin the chord approach is about as far as i would worry about melody outside of a lead solo id rather leave it for the vocalist or a high range instrument but when it comes to do the whole song by myself in a DAW, the melody is where i struggle the most its simple to arpeggiate random patterns on a chord progression and sound melodic, but its hard to write melody thinking as a monophonic instrument, like vocals, and also a melody that is rhythmically good
So...how are you playing the chord progression at the same time as the melody? I am trying to picture playing the correct chord while playing the correct melody note at the same time, might be hard for me
constructive criticism: th-cam.com/video/MAVZx8S5_yA/w-d-xo.html this was a poor explanation for beginners who dont know it's c e g, i get this is geared towards more moderate players but still just clarifying for someone starting out like "the notes of c, c e and g or 1 3 5" would be better
