Back in the day, Wong Fu filmed a really entertaining DIY ramen episode. A cooking and tasting competition where everyone reinterprets one dish, would be fun to watch!
wes is the kind of dad who seems strict and sets rules but then once in a while hits you with those one liners that you never see coming. dad wes: gives specific and detailed instructions on how to properly reuse/recycle lunchbox items also dad wes: DEEEZZ NUTTSS
Dumplings got me made fun of and sneered at growing up too. I remember a kid saying I was eating soiled diapers and that I should leave. But I also remember telling her she can go sit somewhere else if she'd like since I was there first. Good job little me hahaha.
My Dad packed lunch for me once when my mom was out of town, and not knowing any better, he just threw some left over kfc in a paper bag with a small bag of chips, and a soda and called it a day....lol
This was such a fun episode! Totally dig it! I mean, I like the serious discussions amongst the group Lunch Breaks can offer, but it's nice to unwind with these more casual interactions. For me, I brought lunch to school in my early elementary school years 2nd/3rd-ish grade, and my parents required me to save all my trash from my lunch and put it back in my lunch bag so they could inspect it. (To make sure I ate the lunch, I guess...?) But the lunch tables at school were also situated so that there was a school aid by 2 trash cans that would oversee the students properly dump their trash and stack their trays after they ate. So it was sometimes troublesome to tell them I couldn't throw away my trash and had to keep it to show my parents. Haha.
I look forward to wong fu every week!! My school lunches: I'm a Chinese adoptee and my sweet mom would always try and make me "asian" lunches haha - she would fry up the rice, with sweet peppers and then add in like Mr. Noodle and then fry that all and put it in a thermos --- shoutout to the parents who make their kids lunch
As a high schooler on Guam it was either cafeteria food or “student store food” which sold a mixed plate that consisted of red rice, bbq chicken, some kind of pickled papaya or mango salad, and I would bring my own water frozen up and wrapped in foil. ~sigh~ oh memories when I moved to WA state is was pop tarts in the vending machine.
Lmao Jen's lunch concept is like how ppl dress on the first day of school vs. end of the school. So cutesy lunches for the initial days to make you feel comfortable and then lunchables the rest of the school year LOL. I'm joking I'm sure she'll make quality lunches for her kids lol.
I always ate school lunch :'D.... Though there was this one time in elementary where I was sick and my mom didn't want me eating school lunches because "they are bad for you (when you're sick)" so she cooked me wide rice noodle soup with wantons and came to my school about 10 minutes before lunch started. I got called in to the office to pick up the food and brought it back to my classroom. But the smell of the soup was so strong. The kid who sat opposite of me was like " what's that smell? It smells really good." Then at lunch a lot of kids asked me what I was eating and some of them were jealous. At that time I was really embarrassed because I hated the attention. Now when I think back to it, I feel stupid for overreacting. Whats really silly was the fact that I'm almost 80% sure I was one who asked my mom to make me noodles.
My mom made me lunch for 11 years straight. 95% of the time she gave me leftovers, other 5% was stir-fried veg and fruit. Only in my final year did I start taking my own lunch because I knew it was taking up her time and she started working on a degree. Love you mama 😭❤❤ Now she judges what lunch I pack in hahaha
I really enjoyed this video! It’s funny how I think many of us were made fun of because of our lunches from time to time. As someone who is Mexican, I always got this big ol Torta and would get made fun off. People who had lunchables or fast food, we would look at with envy, but that actually meant their parents didn’t really have time or cared to make their kids an actual lunch. There was nothing to be jealous of, we should have been grateful that our parents took time out of their busy mornings to make us something.
I never had home lunch until college. I was in a Title 1 school my from kindergarten to 12th, so I often had free or reduced lunch. I miss having free lunch... But if I had home lunch, I wish I had it packed like the one Jenn gave! So aesthetically cute!
Oh wow I remembered my senior year and I had to bring lunch because I didn't have a lunch period and had to eat to in my class. I really appreciated my mom doing that everyday for me, i used a hot thermos. people around me always thought my lunch smelled good. usually fried rice and they wanted but we were in class and unable to share. those were the days
I'll be honest, I was a bit bummed that the podcast format for Lunchbreak was over, but I really enjoy watching these videos too :) I really LOVE this idea of making food for each other as well! :D
This was adorable. My parents helped us pack our lunch as kids, then we made our own once we were about 12. In elementary school my favorite sandwich was ham on cinnamon swirl bread. lol We were allowed to buy our lunch once a month, and I always picked breakfast for lunch day.
As an Indian, my mother would always give me roti and a vegetable dish to go with it, as it is considered staple food in an Indian home. But I got so bored with it. While my friends would have noodles, sandwiches or something fun to eat always.
Great job!! Wanted to show my 6 year old daughter this video (who is now back in school) thinking she would love this, until Benson said "deez nuts" LOL nevermind! 😂😂 Side note: Did anyone else share their asian snacks at lunch growing up? That's how all my white friends became addicted to pocky and Yan Yans.
Daiso is #1. I'm not in school, but I made a lot of tacos in college. MS/HS...I usually ate cafeteria food tbh. If I brought lunch, it was leftovers from a dinner I really enjoyed or a sandwich because I didn't want what the cafeteria scheduled that day.
Hope you're enjoying these "I let my coworker decide" videos! What should we do next??
OUTFIT!!! Style each other please!

Such a cute lunch break video! ❤️
Was hoping for instructions to remove foil before microwaving those dumplings.
