there's this story told by Pete Townshend (he played for The Who and one of the best guitar players of that time), he was hanging out with Eric Clapton (who played for Cream back then and was probably THE best guitar player in the world at that moment). they were hanging out on this bar/club in 1966 and they listened to this UnKnOwN guy playing guitar. Pete was so impressed by him he called his friend Paul McCartney (guitar/bass/singer of The Beatles). when Paul arrived he asked "what was going on?" to his friends. Pete points out to the UnKnOwN guitar player and says "we are ALL soooo fucked!!!" (other sources say it was on the lines of: "we are all outta jobs"). anyways, long story short, the UnKnOwN guitar player they were referencing to was: Jimi Hendrix. Jimi played with Cream and Clapton for one gig one night shortly after that first encounter. they had a short friendship, but Eric knew from the start Jimi was a spicial talent. Eric and Jimi were due to hang out together -but never happened- the nite Jimi died in 1970.

Clapton had a comeback of sorts in the 90’s in which he dive right into blues and did some collaborations with some of the blues greats. Tears of Heaven came into it when his little son died, and that song has eclipsed his music ever since. His blues, though is sublime.

My Dad was into classic rock from the 60s & 70s, and this was one of his favorite artists. I’ve heard so much from Clapton. If you haven’t heard it yet, I’d highly recommend checking out two of Cream’s songs: Sunshine of Your Love, and I Feel Free. SO good!

There's a video of Eric Clapton on UTube performing this song in a short that says "NO SNOW NO SHOW". He had a big drug problem. When he was criticized for recording this song he tried to claim that it was an anti-drug song. The media bought but the rest of didn't and loved this song anyway.

Cale, and he has his own version of the song of course, and it is real, real good. Clapton has many musical forms in his loooong career, mostly Blues based, but he can do it all.
Eric Clapton is considered one of the greatest guitarists of our time. He is frequently in the top 4 along with Prince, Hendrix, Keith Richards… top caliber. Slow hand is a great album . Journeyman is probably my favourite Clapton album … great blues .
You should do Cream Sunshine of your love. Ginger Baker was the drummer in Cream and is widely considered in the top handful of greatest drummers. This song was actually written by JJ Cale who wrote quite a few great songs others covered

My friend who died at age 25 in a motorcycle accident used to play the bass part and sing this song all the time in his band .. not a huge fan of the song but it forever haunts me now.

He also starred in the hit musical movie "Tommy" which had all the major artists of the time. Also, in the band jam session at the end of the movie "Blues Brothers 2000". He released an album with BB King before BB passed on. Check out the "Crossroads music festival" video. Cocaine was written JJ Cale, who appeared with Eric on the Crossroads video. He also was a part of the super band at Knebworth, UK, check out that video too. He had a major hit with "Layla".

Dive on Clapton guys. Among the best ever. Yes, in Cream and Derek & the Dominos. Ton of solo. Also, one of the best blues guitarists of all time. Check him out at crossroads. As for a few songs...Sunshine of your Love, White Room, Wonderful Tonight, Tears in Heaven, I Shot the Sheriff. That's just a few. Please check him out jamming with some of the all time great blues guitarists too...not just rock for Eric. 🙂

The difference between rap and rock is the intention. Hippie music spoke of being high, peace, and love. Rap talks about being a drug dealer, gangs, hate, being a hoe, and lust. Huge difference. Obviously not 100% like this on each side, but overall, especially current rap.
And rock was seen as unseemly by the "adults." Whether it was the lasciviousness of Elvis's hips or the marijuana then LSD use by the hippies and one. Metal was devil music. Etc.
Never done drugs, but that was one of my most favorite songs to dance to.
