Thanks so much for all your posts. I love this tune and have been working on it. I can't seem to find the correct guitar chords to go with it. Is there any chance you could post them? Many thanks!
"If the Cap Fits" is so great, but it's a forbidden album in my house - two sides of non-stop fiddling drives my poor girlfriend up the wall. Do you have any tips for transcribing fast, ornamented tunes? I find myself maybe focusing on the minutiae too much and having to slow things right down to catch every note. Would you recommend going for rough sketch to start with? Anyway, great video as always! You've probably got the best fiddle channel on youtube right now
If I'm transcribing from a youTube video, I often use the slow down feature, which is very helpful. For a new tune yes, I think it;'s a good idea to first transcribe and practice the simplest, unornamented version. The ornaments only start to make sense once you have the flow of the tune. And, for most people, it doesn't make sense to accept every ornament and bow stroke as gospel. If Kevin Burke played this tune today I have no doubt many of the details would be different! And tomorrow, different again.
