Hmm, numbers 7 and 8? Been there, done that. One month ago my teacher said I wasn;t internalizing the music, and I was frustrated with the pieces in Volume 2 of John Thompson. So I went back to Volume 1 (again!!) and started playing...and singing the easier songs. I also have La Méthode Rose in French and British, and I'm trying to make them more musical. Just last week she added another wrinkle. She had me close the book and play. I couldn't. Of course, that's what I've been working on, and for the first time in my two years of playing, I'm beginning to feel musical. I said that I don't care how long I stay in these books, when I move on I'll be ready.
Hey there, Larry! Nice to hear from you. It sounds like you have a wonderful teacher with a bit of tough love :-) you are getting wonderful musical insights by reviewing and enjoying the journey! I'm wondering if you have a background in the arts or maybe sciences?
Thank you for these valuable tips.
You are very welcome! 🙂
