Maru just knows exactly what to do at all times, it’s crazy… he’s so good, yeah his micro and macro are good obviously but his moment to moment decision making is something else, man.
Right? He seems so effortlessly comfortable in any situation. Like a meme about "just make the right units and control them well" but he actually knows what that means all the time lol. Been a pleasure to watch for years.
I think the only time I saw Maru even look slightly upset or off center was when he nuked his entire army that one time. Hero got shook by that surround and he didn't recover.

@@henearkrypton2997 of course he didnt mean maru is perfect or that there's no better player than him, its just the consistency of him making plays at that level that makes him a beast. Again, not the only beast.
Of course I got your point and I agree completely, I was just speechless and a littlr disappointed while watching the bo7 against Dark, as Maru’s run until that point was really relentless! I guess also the very long games with Reynor had a role in his last performance, maybe he was a little overfatigued; still a beast, and surely among the best- no doubt!!
@9:45 for the epic surround. Couldn't really tell who is winning till the end of the fight, almost thought Hero had it when his reinforcement of 12 chargelots arrived on the battlefield, but one EMP and reinforcements from Maru quickly melted them.

@@orangepearlf40 Maybe he thought he had it. Yes, Tempest are expensive, but so are ghosts and they were all yellow-red hp.

@@Airdrifting Yeah, but Tempests do almost nothing against non-massive units. So all they were doing was taking up a lot of supply.
hero outplayed himself with terrible positioning
Game 1 was so beautiful and game 2 felt like a desperation attempt out of herO, his gateway based pressure had me sweating for Maru though.

Her0 was so close to making his early game aggression work in game 2. However, with how difficult Maru is to kill it still would've been a close game even with the better economy for Her0.

Hero could have totally win the first game if his position was a little better. But Maru, being the master he is, was patient and strategic pull it apart. Really nice game there!

Colossus phoenix is a legit comp if you can micro the phoenix. They’ll drag mine shots, disable marauders and give vision while the colossus melt through every marine in the known universe.

@@GraveUypo IN theory sure, but in practice is so had for marines to be able to kill the phoenix before the colossus kills them. Phoenix are tankier than you think and colossus kill marines way faster than you think

I really believe terran is super imbalanced, especially towards protoss. The fact they can make marines and marauders super cheap and super early and its just the counter to everything is unfair. Not counting upgrades, and siege tanks that can shoot so far and toss cant do anything ab it bc marines will take any air down. Theres just nothing protoss can do to terran its almost impossible to win, and lets not forget ghosts that can go invisible and use emp to take out all of protoss shields and high templar energy that is used to counter mass marines. Colossus gets shat on by 5 vikings that r just included there. I mean theres literally nothing protoss can do. Terran is broken and needs to be fixed

You do realize that Terran is the most micro heavy race in SC2, right? So yeah. They have cheap units like marines and marauders, but they can be easily countered by other Protoss units. A simple storm will do the trick, especially when Terran needs to split his army just to render storm ineffective. And how about Protoss being the easiest race to deathball? Late game Protss units are not just tanky, but also easy to deathball. Compare that to Terran where their only tanky late game units are Thors and BCs. If your answer to mass marine marauder composition is to build mass colossus, then SC2 isn't the game for you. There are a lot of ways a Terran deathball can be melted by Protoss. That's what casters are for. A lot of times you kids complaining about how imbalanced Terran is are just whiners who complain that their deathball stack can't defeat Terran. If you want a game of deathball stacking, go play C&C. There's a reason why deathballs aren't a thing at higher levels. Even pro players themselves say Terran is the hardest race to use because of how micro intesive Terran is. Heck even Serral said that Terran needs a buff, not a nerf. And what these pro players say have more weight than yours since they play for a living. They know more than you and I could ever know in this game. So shut it and get good. Find other ways to defeat a Terran marine marauder army than just deathball stacking.

Terran seems… ridiculous, have answer for all the Toss unita, at least thats how it looks with these two, forcing Hero to play aggresive.
Terran bio seems totally balanced...
Admittedly, the way TvP is supposed to be played is the protoss transitions into disruptor, which the terran then counters with libs, which are then countered in turn by Tempests/blink dts sniping planetaries. Hero skipped the disruptor step, thinking that maru would anticipate his disruptor transition and go libs, but maru ended up never doing that, so Hero had a lot of deadweight in tempests without a real way to zone out the bio.
And in case your imbalance complaint stems from the second video, you have to realize that hero played so unbelievably greedy and was rightfully punished. Hero literally took a fourth base and got a dark shrine (neither of which actually helps your main army) while Maru was massing bio on 2 bases. Obviously hero insta dies

I mean Maru isn't exactly your average even pro player, so maybe he's a bad one to look to from a balancing perspective. There are points where storms and disrupters here should've absolutely destroyed his army, but he's just so good.
@@ruevenfangirl3685 To add on, Hero lost his disruptors needlessly with the move command during the first big engagement. They were exposed so Maru picked them off.

@@henearkrypton2997 yeah, typical protoss, the best protoss player is literally a zerg. That is what they get for being on easy mode their entire SC2 career, they never got gud.
Why can Maru only win against Koreans?
Because he wasn’t into EU tournaments before covid. He didn’t train enough against Reynor or Serral. He lost more WCS chances to Korean players. Except Serral, Maru is still considered upper-hand against Reynor and Clem.
Which Maru are you talking about¿ Maru won WESG2017 thrashing Serral (3-0) , Reynor, Scarlett, and Neeb along the way. He has thrashed so many non Koreans in IEM runs in the following years. He won ASUS ROG Fall 2021 last year, beating Neeb and thrashing both Serral (again 3-0), and HM (3-0) and soundly beat Rogue in the final. A month later he won DH Winter.. thrashing Showtime (2-0) and Clem (3-0).. soundly beating Rogue in the final -again. A few weeks later he won King of Battles 2 .. along the way thrashing Mana (2-0) and Reynor (3-1) .. finally sending Serral home 4-2 in the final - on Zerg favoured maps .. a month later he won DH Last Chance.. beating non-koreans HM and Time along the way. He also regularly beat non Koreans, including Reynor, in WTL when he was still with Team NV..
So, I'm not sure which Maru you're talking about that 'cant beat non-Koreans' .. cos the real Maru has proven he can absolutely *handle* anybody.

@@real_MacrocosM I seem to remember the last 2 IEM Katowice, Maru being trashed by Reynor. In case you dont follow SC2 that is the world championship. So Reynor exists Maru from the world championship 2 years in a row and somehow you still think Maru is favored?
Reynor has been in the Finals for 3 straight world championships. Maru has not be in the finals in 5 years. I rest my case.
