Taking me back!
i was 5 years old and that Christmas of 1990 my parents gift me the 12 figures of hasbro series 1 (Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Million Dollar man, Jaker Roberts, Brutus Beakcake and Ax was for me and Andre, Akeem, Smash, Macho man, Rick Rude ans Big Boss Man was for my Borther) and Hulk Hogan and Macho King Wrestling Buddies. Now i Have all series except 11, i bought this in ebay and some pace call Tianguis in Mexico.
My cousin and I were RELIGIOUS wrestling fans back in the mid-late 80s and early 90s. Between him and I we had every single one of these guys.

In Memory of Randy Savage (Macho Man) 1952-2011. I can't believe he died in May 2011 of a Heart Attack and lost control of his jeep and hit a tree he was 58. He was my second favorite wrestler after Hulk Hogan. We all really miss him alot.

When i came back from school in 1990, i watched the Super Mario Super show everyday at TV.... and during the commercial breaks, i saw all of these commercials all the time. It's great to see it 30 years later. I still buy original WWF merchandise today in 2022.

I used the LJN figures a little bit as a kid, but THESE were the ones I really had a collection of. My cousin and I damn near had every one of them with a the ring. What a fun time to be a kid. A little NES, a little Sega Genesis, a little wrestling. And you could get all three at the video store.

This was the very core of my childhood! 3:38 Hulk Hogan action figure performing Drew McIntyre's CLAYMORE decades before it was even a thing! I collected a large portion of them and the commercials still give me goosebumps!

i remember when i was a little kid i went to toys r us and the whole aisle was full of these figures and the wrestling buddies and other wwf hasbro stuff and wcw figures thats where i got my ring at and figures to i bought some at kb toys and other places
Andre’s figure never rotated at the waist. Interesting how they let that show up in the commercial. I bet that prototype would sell for a lot of money.
I love these commercials I had all the figures. Poor Mean Gene went to Toys R Us and kept getting assaulted by the wrestlers LOL.

I remember when Toy's R Us had their aisles like this full of wrestling stuff. As a kid it was like they never ended. It makes me sad to see their stuff fits now on one small shelf with hardly any selection. Most of us buy our stuff online now. Those were the days.

@@FigHeel there is only one toy in the world that I always wanted it but never got it and it was the undertaker series 4. When he came out on the commercial I got scared....i still get sad everytime I see this toy til this day.
Me and my brother got the whole first set and ring except Andre Christmas 1990 from Santa and my cousins. Didn’t find Andre til my bday in August. So memorable though. Such a great Christmas.

We all knew Roddy Piper was good at talking fast, but he achieved full Micromachines Guy speed here. Macho Man is doing well, too, but that's a whole other level. I'm in awe.

I always found it odd that Hasbro never made a Jesse Ventura figure (yes at the time he was just a commentator) but yet put him in some of the commercials.
He left the same year these came out.

I'm very disappointed that Hasbro(of all companies), didn't consider making them more like GIJoe figures, or at least like a 3.75 Super Powers type figure with articulation in the knees. Even today no company has done it, except Jakks with Build n Brawl. I didn't like how fragile & flimsy they were in retrospect, but I do appreciate that they were made for our scale(3.75 collectors).
A gi joe style wrestling figure would be epic
I think they were right in assuming kids would totally abuse the action figures as they would be having their own Wrestlemania's on school desks, school bus seats, anywhere and everywhere. GI Joe style figures wouldn't take the abuse.

Awesome. The greatest time in the world to be a kid. Wrestling toys, TMNT, Power Rangers. Yo-yos, Wrestling Ice cream bars, SNES, Sega Genesis, PS1, N64, Pokemon Cards, Nickelodeon, Rugrats, Doug, All that, Are you afraid of the dark, legends of the hidden temple, X-Men, The 90's were epic.

Even though it’s not during my time I began getting into the old School wrestling from the 1980s and early 90s when hulk hogan was in the WWF ,I like not just hulk hogan but the ultimate warrior,Ted dibiase,the road warriors,demolition,Sgt slaughter,hacksaw Jim Duggan,rowdy Roddy piper,and randy macho man savage.

Yessir! The were included because Hasbro acquired Tonka in early 1991 and continued the WWF licensure with them by distributing product and even developing more lines that never came to be, such as Body Slam Wrestlers. The buddies you are referring to were actually called Wrestling Buddies. The Brawlin’ Buddies were a Mattel product produced in the 2010s!

Everytime we went to Toys R Us....there was a new wrestler...I wanted everybody and I didnt care whether they were good or not. Didn't get that ring or the flag n championship belt till I was older and could afford it myself

We didn't have online shopping back then so trying to find a new figure that you already didn't have that had to take work. Here in Buffalo we only had Hills department store Kmart of course Toys R Us and KB I believe but man you had to put in leg work I remember I tried to find Andre the Giant everywhere

Ultimate warrior and Andre the giant were so hard to find back then ! I remember going to different toy stores and no luck ! Toys are us never had them ! I finally found them at this place called toy Emporium, they actually had them . I went nuts

Do you think retros are discontinued?
Personally I believe they’re shelved until later notice. Every popular Mattel series that was shelved, returned at some point- defining moments, entrance greats, legends, network spotlight, etc. I think I’m a year or 2 down the line we will see them again even if just temporarily.
Fig Heel I hope it comes back. I collected the mystery minis and got rid of them because those were done and now I hope it doesn’t happen again
