    No else can do this series justice like Robert Stack. His dead pan, creepy demeanor is what made this show in my opinion.

    • @buckeyeschmave

      And he was just as deadpan when the situation was humorous. Some of the series' best moments.

      I think it’s the intro song, excellent, the later show with Dannis Ferrina god rest his soul, intro song sucked and it was becoming more like forensic files murders all the time and less about mysteries

      Personally, I hold nothing against the late Dennis Farina. When the series was revived, Robert Stack had passed away a few years prior so they needed to find someone to carry the baton. It is true that things were different for Farina such as cases that had updates previously, but in all honesty, it was good to see there was still interest for the show. I feel that updating the theme and graphics was an idea to stay modern, but I agree it did take away from the concept in some way. Like I said, nothing against Farina...but Stack definitely had the right style and capabilities for Unsolved Mysteries

    Charita and Nikki’s story made me cry. I had major surgery when I was twelve years old. My spleen began to rupture when I was six years old and for six years I was misdiagnosed by doctors. When my the rupture it caused my spleen to soak up all my blood.
    I was clinically dead for a minute and a half. I had surgery and had to stay in the hospital for two weeks. I never had a roommate and I remember feeling lonely sometimes. I did get to meet and play with other kids in a game room at the hospital. I do have fond memories of a nurse named Karen who helped me be brave every time I felt scared.
    I am 40-years-old now and never had any kids because of other medical complications. I was born with Sickle Cell Anemia and that’s what caused my spleen to rupture.
    Watching this episode made me wish I had a roommate back then. Someone to talk to late at night when I couldn’t sleep. My mom did stay overnight with me every weekend, but she and my dad had to work and couldn’t stay on weeknights.
    This story also reminded me how great full I am to be alive. I should’ve died back then, but God speared my life and I will always be great full to be alive.

      These are edited from the originals. I know a few stories that have been edited I guess for different reasons. The original last ep on the house fire they found a jacket, and a bowl you use to crush herbs. But that wasn't mentioned in this series. I have also noted this one a few eps but I still love the production.

It's nice to know that friends, no matter how long they don't see each other, are always friends at heart and never forget each other. And not to mention the impact people can make on one another. So glad Niki found Charita and got to fulfill her wish. I wonder how they are doing now. Niki's little girl is all grown up now. I'm sure she knows all about their beautiful history. UM is amazing with these reunions.

    • @Ruadhan1334
      @Ruadhan1334 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Stefan-ji2ek Same here! Yeah, sometimes they would have bittersweet updates to them (there were a couple eps where siblings who'd been separated by Foster Care found out after the episode aired that one of them had died - I remember the one where it was identical twins who, unbeknownst to them, lived in the same town basically their entire lives, unfortunately one died just a few weeks before reuniting), but at least the person who was on the show would get a sense of closure, and often learn what happened to the other person.
      They were really nice, optimistic segments that would balance the true crime and paranormal segments, and this was one of the best of the UM "Lost Love" segments, and was just so sweet with the updated info.

    I went to the Syracuse flea market this last weekend and bought an advertising piece. Its for Stanley E. Gryziec Wine and Liqours store from the 50s or 60s in a frame. It has a thermometer and a lithograph of a hunting scene. The guy that sold it to me told me about the sad story but I liked it for the picture. I found this video pretty easily. Another cool piece for my collection.

    Stanley Gryziec's case is tricky, at least when the shell casing turned up. On one side, the police do keep details in these cases secret so if someone confesses to the crime but leaves out that detail, they can be exposed as frauds (people do confess to killings they didn't do, bizarre as it may be), and so there IS secrecy needed to an extent, but when it's clear there's something deeper then that going on, it's too late to get the physical evidence because it's been whisked away out of sight.

      @raisedonAMradio 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      This is an old post so, but I’d like to give my two cents. - A lot of the bars owned in the Rome/Utica area of upstate NY were fronts for “wise guys” so to say. They’d get some local individuals to sign the deed and liquor license, then these mafia types would run the place as they wanted. Gambling, prostitution and drugs were everywhere. Even old time speak-easy places that were open 24/7. There was at the time a huge U.S. Air Force base in Rome that was basically like a giant piggy bank for these types. And Utica was always known as place for people who were wanted in other jurisdictions to hide/jump bail or flee into. Lots of street types, lowlifes and gang members flock to that particular area. All this combined for a massive organized crime presence. I believe that played into that case.

    • @justjonni9330
      @justjonni9330 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe the police was trying to cover it up and keep something or someone from being exposed because lets just say they wanted to keep the spent shell casing under wraps just for the sake of someone confessing… but then you have Cause of Death: Stabbing… when clearly he was Shot! If it wasn't for his wife being persistent on him being shot (because she saw the gun laying right in front of her eyes 👀) it more than likely would've remained as a stabbing! Then the cops not writing anywhere in the reports about witnesses who gave pacific details. Smells shady all across the board to me!

The bar that his brother owned the license for had illegal drugs and gambling and possibly other things going on in it and the police were paid off to look the other way and so the cops when it got time to investigate the murder scene didn't want their cash to dry up so that's why they ignored the evidence.

    Shortly after the broadcast, FBI investigators received information that Poulsen was living in the Los Angeles area. Authorities located several of Poulsen's acquaintances and one of them stated that they had seen Poulsen at "Hughes Market" and frequented that location.
    Three weeks later, Poulsen returned to the market. Manager Brian Bridges recognized Poulsen when he entered the store and notified the FBI. However, Poulsen left before agents arrived. One of the investigators decided to do surveillance on the market and shortly before midnight Poulsen returned once again. Once he entered the market, the agent told Bridges that Poulsen was once again at the store. While checking him out, two store clerks tackled Poulsen to the ground and he was soon arrested by a security guard. FBI agents later came and took him into custody.
    Poulsen pleaded guilty to conspiracy, fraud, and intercepting wire transmissions. He was sentenced to 54 months in prison. After he was released, he changed his life for the better by becoming a journalist and making a computer script that helped locate over 700 sex offenders on Myspace.
