T-ARA Qri "Joolae" w/ Eng Subs @Shanghai 160917

** Qri's awesome 2016 Shanghai cover version of Lee Jung Hyun {LJH}'s "Joolae" (Want to Give, Give to You). This song was a big Kpop hit back in 2000. It came off her untitled second album, often called: "Peace" or simply "Lee Jung Hyun II".
At first the english lyrics didn't really click with me for some reason, but one day while watching the original MV with Eng-Subs, I realized how unexpectedly cool they were, especially coming from an Asian/Kpop mindset.
You may not know it by LJH was once a Kpop SuperStar, and some of her songs were also done in Chinese versions, but as far as I know, not this song.
[An interesting fact about Lee Jung Hyun is that when she performs on stage she attatches a wireless microphone to her finger, so that her dancing will not interfere with the sound. The action she uses when singing into her microphone has became a trademark of her style. -www.generasia.c... ]
Until I started doing the subtitles for this, I didn't realize what, if anything, the fans were chanting just before she starts performing. I am amazed that somehow, they spontaneously all started chanting her first & last name, and quite a few of them too. I find it hard to believe that they would have known this song, being that it is 16 years old, and Korean. Qri is singing it in Chinese.
I doubt that any of them thought for a moment what a well crafted performance they were about to witness

Does Joolae mean something in Korean

That's a great question you asked Cameron. Everywhere I've seen, the title: "Joolae" is presented in English as something to the effect of: "want to give" and that's what the lyrics imply. HOWEVER, if you type "Joolae" into Google-Translate, it doesn't have a translation for that term. HOPEFULLY, somebody more knowledgeable can provide a more definitive answer.
Upon more reflexion, I look at the end of the song where the she sings 3 or 4 times somethng like: "My Joolae". The published English lyrics, and the lyrics in an 'official' MV with Eng-Subs, they say that what she is singing is: "I’ll give myself (x4)".
Since Google-Translate can't find ANY definition of the term: "Joolae', I am led to believe that: "My Joolae" actually refers to the name, or lover-nickname of her boyfriend.
Also, if you simply google the term: "Joolae", it only points to this song. Google suggests that maybe you want to search on: "Joola", and if you search on that term, it doesn't lead to anything either.
