Startup Repair - or Automatic Repair in Windows 8, 8.1, and Reset in Windows 10 will try to automatically repair computers that are unbootable because of any of a number of reasons.
Startup Issues this guide can help with :
Has your Registry become corrupted?
Are there missing or damaged system and driver files?
Are you experiencing Disk metadata corruption like MBR, partition table, and boot sector or file system metadata corruption?
Having issues installing problem or incompatible drivers?
Installation of Windows service packs and patches coming back with incompatible errors?
Corrupt boot configuration data?
Bad memory and hard disk hardware errors?
You will want to run a Startup Repair when you are experiencing these issues, but while its early enough that no other issues have been caused as a knock on effect.

Bro, I have so many (1,000’s) beats, drums, kicks, claps, sound loops, samples all on this computer as well.... I’m praying that the method I used recovers some of it :-/

I actually found a fix.... I restored mine, and it gave me the option to restore but keep all files under C:/Users and now I have a brand new laptop, with all of my User data from my old one still intact, thank god I managed to save my beats.
You have to press F12 on boot and press HDD Recovery, and when prompted, select “Keep All User Files.”
Worked.
Edit: pretty much exactly what he said but press keep all user data, not factory reset

Hey MDTech. This problem happened 2 days ago when I was logged into a non admin account on Windows 7. I recently installed an app which was working for the most part but had a slight issue. I also noticed that a driver updated failed to install but only click to check on it and closed the window. mins later my screen went zoomed in and desktop background turned black and missing icons. I did a System Restore to last month and desktop background is normal along w/ some desktop icons showing. Only problem is all my files are missing from my folders and can’t find them anywhere even when I check my C drive and Old.Windows folder under user. Idk what happened maybe a corrupt file also had to Re-install chrome & bookmarks gone, also getting error code 0x0000142 every time I log in. Any help would be appreciated! Also I tried this method but instead of C: Drive it’s on D: Drive.
My computer just starts up and goes straight to Startup Repair, when I try to cancel it, I click finish and it just restarts and does it again. Can you help me with this?

I too have the same problem of not being able to uninstall service pack 1 from my Windows 7 professional o/s. But I used my pre sp1 dvd anyway and it works, because when the program connects to the internet to update itself, it applies the sp1 update automatically to the installation. After that it ran fine for me after removing itunes from my desktop computer.
My comp. starts ok and works ok. But since a couple of days, it acts weird and slows down a lot. And web browsers freeze a lot and programs start very slow. I have installed my windows 7 about 3 or 4 years ago. I think the system is full of windows errors and corrupt windows files after all those years. Is there an easy way of repairing everything?
For start-up repair you needs bootable CD or USB then you can as per your installed windows.

Great vid but have Question.. Is there a diff between the command line Chkdsk F/R ect and the built in windows one where you go into tools from the C drive and tick those 2 boxes and on restart it checks and repairs the C Drive? I have window start problems every other time and then i will turn it off and start and it works fine through to windows so wonder if the bios chip is weak sometimes and windows cant start? all Auto repairs arnt doing much and i loaded windows with AHCI in the bios so that has to stay the same or windows wont load if change to IDE and visa versa.

System restore only goes back so far.What if it happened before your log dates and you just found out about it ? Windows only keeps those type logs so long.

If your keyboard is plugged into a USB 3.0 slot, it will not work. Try moving it to a USB 2.0 slot.

i want to fix a computer at my working place that runs windows 7 and has the exact same problem it starts it automatically goes to that mode and does the startup repair process but with a different outcome since it finds an error 6.1.7600.16385 , so if i restart the pc it does the same again and again and its unable to boot at windows. If i use cmd command and bcdedit safeboot it runs a the safe boot process and then it stucks at the process and restarts .

When i turn on my computer (this is unrelated to the video) it gives me 2 options. 1. Start system reapir (recommended) or something along those lines. 2. Start windows normally. These both result in the system repair. After the repair ends the computer restarts and does the same thing. My question is can i stop the start up repair from happening.

If you click on the "X" (close) or "Cancel" it won't allow you to do either. But if you press the power on/off button, it should bring you to the Recovery Manager screen. Did it on my Compaq CQ56!
