DFE for water desalination

The Drum Film Evaporator (DFE) represents a new type of modular, versatile thin-film evaporator that can be employed for distillation and concentration processes across various industries, including chemical and petrochemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical and biotechnology, as well as in water treatment and processing systems. The modular design of these evaporators allows for easy integration into process schemes with multi-stage evaporation and eliminates the need for external steam heating sources and condensing heat exchangers when using mechanical vapour recompression. Thanks to the continuous mechanical cleaning technology used in the DFE to remove salt deposits from the heating surface, these units have an unlimited cycle time between shutdowns for chemical or mechanical cleaning. Industrial applications are exemplified by a description of a water desalination evaporator using solar energy and a unit for concentrating liquid radioactive waste. The weight and dimensions of the evaporator modules facilitate the transportation and installation of the evaporator equipment, while the continuous process cycle reduces the qualifications required for the personnel.
