Man; I don't know what it is. Every time I listen to this song; I get this wash of nostalgia over my entire being. John Bush's vocals are so timeless and just inspiring. The lyrics hit a nerve as well. Just a killer track from a band that defines the term underrated.

BoxCarBoy12 because it's not brutal metal singing... lolll brutal singing must involves some screaming or growling... that can be damaging but not singing... or else we could ask ourselves how Celine Dion has kept her voice for so long ? dah

demoncleaner80 I love Anthrax and the Bush years were excellent. They need to work some of that stuff back into the live rotation. It's a disservice to their fans. And let's hear some deep tracks too Stealing from a Thief, Sodium Pentathol, Think About an End. Great songs he would have hammered live. I'd like to see Joey tackle some of those live. Their registers are very different, but he's got the chops to make it work.

LOST ARMORED SAINT HISTORY: #8 (Recording Delirious Nomad) Armored Saint's 2nd full length album, was for the most part Recorded at Infamous Can-Am Studio's In Tarzana Calif. SFV, The Album Recorded by Famed Producer Max Norman had started with the orig. 5 members. Unfortunately Phil Sandoval who had Sussed out a lot of Gear w/Max (A sea of 100 watt Marshall Heads and many Guitars) Had some Undisclosed Differences with the Band, which led to his Departure at the time.(Good news is, Phil Reunited w/Armored Saint a few years later!) Armored Saint had a few songs previously written, but a good portion was written in the studio or even more so in Dave Prichard's small home studio, and then later perfected in rehearsal or at Can-Am. The Album also featured Joey Vera on Acoustic as well as an Incredible Bass solo on the song "Released". Max and Armored Saint worked Tirelessly, Composing and laying down what would become Classic Armored Saint Tracks for Delirious Nomad. Max Norman also Produced Ozzy's Blizzard & Diary albums.

LOST ARMORED SAINT HISTORY: #2 (Busting Barriers & Band Retreat) Nearing the end of a Grueling Mcaully/Shenker Armored Saint Tour in 86 or so.The Band were in San Diego Ca. So this particular Tour started in Detroit Mich. and by now they were in warmer weather. The Tour was selling out on the west coast and this day was no Exception. The place was filled and the Fans were Absolutely Rabid that night. During this time Armored Saint Owned Southern Calif... Fans came from Everywhere!! As the opener, Armored Saint were Battle Ready. They would build the crowd to a frenzy, then Unleash right on schedule. Only this time Half way thru the Opener "March of the Saint" the standard Metal Barrier holding back the crowd gave way!! Now usually the Band would recover from some "Mishap" Like this, but the whole thing was so Intense it swallowed pedal boards, mic stands, and it was probably one of the only times Lead Singer John Bush would pull the Band off stage, even if Momentarily. The Good News is Things were Repaired "Very Quickly" and Armored Saint took the Stage, Restarted, and proceeded to "Blast San Diego"...Once Again. Former UFO Guitarist Michael Shenker stood in the wings in Amazement. Later Shenker was Heard telling the bands Roadies, in a thick German Accent "I Love this American Armored Saint Band".

LOST ARMORED SAINT HISTORY: #10 (Opening For Motorhead) Not Surprising that Armored Saint would cross paths w Lemmy R.I.P. and Motorhead as Armored Saint worked hard Ascending to Fame during the very early 80's. A very early Exp. as the sole opener for Lemmy and band at the Country Club in Reseda Ca. had Armored Saint Gear & Crew, waiting out the back door of the Venue Until 10 min before Their scheduled 8 pm start. What some didn't realize, Armored Saint are Amazing under any circumstances and fans were Treated to a Incredible Performance. Flash Forward 2 years: '84 saw Armored Saint on a grueling 6 mo. non-stop Tour that landed the band squarely in the Heart of N.Y.C. on a night off, and Invited as Special Guests of Motorhead at the Beacon Theatre in lower Manhattan for a typically Excruciatingly Loud Concert. Armored Saint Performed the following night to a packed Beacon Theatre and "Conquered" New York for what would be the 1st of many East Coast "Battle Jaunts" On a side note: (Undisclosed Differences between Guitarist Phil Sandoval and Armored Saint were Surfacing around this time.)

LOST ARMORED SAINT HISTORY: #21 (1st Major Tour / Irvine Initiation ) Having Headlined L.A., S.F., PHX, TUC, Respectively, Armored Saint Were Releasing their debut album on Chrysalis Records and along with that, Hoping for a National Tour. The call came in the form of an Opening slot for Quiet Riot / Whitesnake at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater In So Cal. Always ready for Opportunity this show was no different and Armored Saint did not Disappoint. Unaware they were being eye'd for a tour of the U.S. that Included all 3 bands, Management worked Together behind the Scenes to Arrange just that. Quiet Riot, Whitesnake, Armored Saint. The Irvine show was a Huge Success for all and Armored Saint were asked to join the tour and given a 6 mo. winter Itinerary. They spent the better part of 1983 honoring that commitment. The 5 members of Armored Saint had Achieved A Major Record Deal and National Tour in a very short period of time. Something that Endears the band to this day. Catch "Win Hands Down" Released in 2015.

LOST ARMORED SAINT HISTORY: #3 (Confusion in Oakland) Veterans of the Stage, Armored Saint a tightly knit well rounded outfit, had well over 200 shows performed Nationally, on several different Tours with a good handful of Major Bands. John Nady the wireless Mogul, (Especially in the 1980's) had a Club in Oakland Ca. The Club itself was Huge but wasn't even finished on this particular date. Now the Unwritten Band Law is John Bush (Armored Saints Frontman) is in very Firm Control and "Calls the Shots" on Stage. The Band used a set list. Keep in mind John is the Ringleader (Naturally) and does Occasionally make a change live. Armored Saint has just Blasted thru another Incredible set. Crowd yells "Underdogs" John Takes Charge and Proclaims "Underdogs"(not on set list that night) which in turn sets Dave Prichard (The Bands Guitarist and founding member R.I.P.) into motion and the starting of the song. Johns hands in the air, Dave starts the fire, Where's Gonzo? (The Bands Drummer). possible tech difficulties?? know one knew!! Seemed like forever wtf...still no Gonzo, Fury started to manifest itself at Hyper-speed!! John somehow Sensing the flaw, Blast's out "Madhouse" the original closer and shifts gears. Dave Prichard Immediately starts the closing tune and Armored Saint Roared thru it and ended with another strong performance. The Band came off stage that night Hot!! Not in a real good way. Instruments down, Towels in hand, The misunderstanding had Armored Saint Behind closed Doors and they didn't emerge for well over an Hour. Incredibly they walked out of that dressing room Like the (4) now(5) Larger than Life Rock Stars they are. Composed and Together. These Men Are Gods. Armored Saint has always "Delivered".

The ones that helped me realize when shit was funny
    Cut our teeth
    A kick in the ass
Tackling life there's just one chance
    Mischief makers piss some off
    Deal with consequences or not
Roaming the city eyes open wide
Every adversary is urged to hide
    With boots on ground
    Win hands down
    A giant sound
    Win hands down
    Just maintain
    Then drop the reins
    And place my crown
    Win hands down
    Lise some royal decree
    A verbal contract
    You're with me
And man I got your back
    Seeking adventure every which way
Knowing full well there may be hell to pay
    Adolescence in full swing
A booming voice were gonna bring
So much that this platoon can do
Bread and circus is the rule

LOST ARMORED SAINT HISTORY: #1 (Major Label Status) The Band had already been signed to Metal Blade Records, who would then later go on to sell Armored Saint's contract for the mere sum of $15,000. L A METAL was being swallowed up by all the Major Label's and Ron Fair an A & R Exec with Chrysalis Records was one of the first on board and would also stay close with the band. Armored Saint Recorded Several "Demos" at Baby O' studios in Hollywood Ca. and Exec's were Impressed. The Moment of Truth: Usually Fri & Sat Exclusively, Armored Saint had a Wed night Show at The Troubador in Hollywood Ca. It was a 6 song set. A mix of their best songs. A Showcase for The Record co. it was kept hush from the fans. Stage Set the Club was packed and ready. The Crowd that night was very anxious. Moments later a black stretch Limo pulled to the front of the Club and the label Exec's were brought in and wisked upstairs to their waiting Reserved Seats. Armored Saint Delivered a powerful six song set that night. Turns out that's what Chrysalis Exec's "wanted to see", what the band was like Live! well they found out that night and the rest as They say is "History" !!! What an after-party...

LOST ARMORED SAINT HISTORY: #4 (A Blizzard & a Bullet in Buffalo) During a rough Winter hall up thru the northeast part of the U.S. Armored Saint, Metallica, and Wasp on Tour Together in 85' were snowed in Heavily in a Massive Blizzard snow storm in Buffalo New York. The weather was so Heavy, that the city or the state Declares an Emergency and no one can be outside shelter. (you can literally parish) Armored Saint and Metallica's people were literally buying loaves of bread and lunch meats from the Hotel kitchen to feed the Bands and Crews. When The Blizzard passed Everyone walked out to see the Buses were covered in snow and had to be dug-out. There's a Classic Picture of (Gonzo) Armored Saint's Drummer Looking at Saints Bus (half Covered in fresh snow).Later that Day both Bands and equipment trucks rolled out in a caravan toward the next destination. (WASP left a day earlier in ill-advised bad weather) A couple miles out the Tour Buses pulled off in a strange and Unscheduled stop.. some commotion going on outside, a few hopped out to see what was Happening? Someone had actually shot at Metallica's Tour Bus. (no idea why) Upon further Inspection a bullet had Ripped thru the back lounge window on one side and it came out the other side, Searing right thru the back lounge altogether. Armored Saint War Stories. Thank God nobody was Killed or hurt by this mindless Deed.

Jumpers) Armored Saint has always been an Ass Kicking Radical Band, who in their younger days would Literally go straight into the Crowd at the end of each night's performance. Over the Top!! Numerous times the band's crew would end up retrieving both band members and Sometimes Lead Singer John Bush's notorious White Leather Vest, fans always tried to make off with. On this particular run with Metallica, whom they had been touring with Extensively, Metallica Decided to have a go at jumping into the Crowd at the end of their set. The bands were all headed to the next show, when certain Tour Managers Devised a plan to Have both bands Confront each other on a single tour bus without their prior knowledge! There had been talk of who's thing it was and some Griping going on! Apparently things were Worked out, but the whole Scene was pretty Heavy.

LOST ARMORED SAINT HISTORY: #16 (Opening 4 Judas Priest) During the 1980's Armored Saint opened for many Major acts, Judas Priest being one of them. It was Quite a Spectacular Event given these two acts History. The Richfield Coliseum in Ohio was Treated to a Rare Performance by both acts. Armored Saint was taking America by storm and Judas Priest was Touring Behind Their "Turbo Lover" album. Superfan Sean Evans explains'. "When the lights went out 15,000 people went bonkers when Armored Saint opened with "March of the Saint". I'll never forget it. There are good concerts, but this was surreal. like seeing Aerosmith for the first time". When Judas Priest took the stage that night, the Silhouette of Saints figures watching Rob Halford Ascend in a Mechanical hand was Mesmerizing. Two generations of both American and British "Heavy Metal Gods". When all was said and Done a Historical photo was captured of Lead Singer John Bush and Priest's Rob Halford at a very special time in History. MTV would Later Describe it as "when Metal Ruled the World". Halford also later Described Armored Saint as a "Very Powerful Metal Band, The True Arrival of Contenders". Contenders Indeed.

LOST ARMORED SAINT HISTORY: #6 (The L.A. Switch) Tentative 4-18-20 CORONA LOCKDOWN. DURING Metallica's "Ride the Lighting" tour, Armored Saint opened numerous shows. The orig line up (Metallica Wasp Armored Saint)shed Wasp, who went off to open shows for Iron Maiden, leaving Metallica and Armored Saint to tour together culminating with a show in L.A. 3-10-85. Armored Saint were Huge in L.A. In short the band could sell out any venue there. After some talk and negotiation it was Decided that Armored Saint saint would Headline the infamous show at the Hollywood Palladium. Only problem was Armored Saint had worked themselves into a "Road Groove" and had to put together a headline set. The band brought in supplemental lighting, marshalls etc, and worked out their headline Approach. (un be knownst to the band Guitarist Dave Prichard) took a fall just before stage entrance. Dave appearing ok was hurt and shaken but refused to show any signs. Without a doubt it affected his performance. Armored Saint worked very hard that night to live up to Headline Status as Metallica stood down. True to form Armored Saint didn't disappoint but decidedly dodged a potential bullet. A "Lesson Well Learned". Early Metal.

Lyrics - (with likely some inaccuracies :) )
this is an ode to all my old buddies
ones that help me realize when shit was funny
    a cut out tee
    a kick in the ass
    tackling life
    theres just one chance
    mischief makers
    piss them off
    deal with consequences..or not
roaming the city eyes open wide
    every adversary deserves to hide
    with boots on ground
    win hands down
    a giant sound
    win hands down
    just maintain
    drop the rest
    place my crown
    win hands down
its a royal decree, above all contract
your with me and man i got your back
    seeking adventure every which way
knowing full well there may be hell to pay
    adolescence in full swing
[boom or bust?] four man rush
    were going to pray [pay?]
so much madness a platoon can do
    ready circus, is a rule
    with boots on ground
    win hands down
    a giant sound
    win hands down
    just maintain
    drop the rest
    place my crown
    win hands down
    win hands down
    win hands down
    win hands down
