Hi Arren! Mancera's Vetiver Sensuel is a great extremely easy to wear vetiver scent. Has a lot of citrus along with vetiver. I found it like an easier version of Guerlain's Vetiver.
The Encre Noire line is good. I know you already reviewed the original EdT. There's Encre Noire Sport that's fresher. And there's Encre Noire a la Extreme which is an eau de parfum
I've found that if you layer a citrus base fragrance over a vetiver it really tames the sharpness of the vetiver and smooths it out. Try a spray of encre noir and two sprays of D&G light blue. Its a nice combo.
I have never tried the EDT however, I do use the parfum as a signature sent exclusively in the summer. And the warm weather it comes off as somewhat leathery, smooth and green, while in the winter time it comes off as smoky in a way that almost seems it was unintended, and not well blended.
You have become my favourite perfume content creator yet, your straightforward and dissective approach to how a perfume is constructed really makes me leave with new insight, a nice change from the “this is bad and this is good” narrative in perfume content creation nowadays even when I watch a video about a perfume I don’t like from you I can still appreciate the perfumery behind it. For the vetiver perfume you asked about, the only one I could think of right now and thus recommend is Encre Noire Lalique, but if I were to humbly recommend another perfume to try you should really try Silver Oud from Amouage. I really want to know why the dry down takes a different turn and becomes so good
Lighter Vetivers suggestions: Red Vetiver by Montale, St. Vetiver by DS Durga, B'al Dafrique by Byredo, Vetiverio EDT by old French can't remember house. Skip Roja's Vetiver it's a Meh. Skip Creed. On the TF grey Vetiver I smell metal, I hate it. But what is the chemical that does 5:18 it? You did review Vetiver Sultan and it is damn heavy Vetiver.
This is exactly the video I was looking for. I'm looking into adding "grey vetiver" to my collection, but I was unsure if I should get the EDT or the parfum. You've got a new subscriber, sir.
Hi @Aaron I'm a vetiver fanatic, I think you should review 'Fat Electrician' by Etat Libre d'Orange!! It's a gourmand take on vetiver focusing on the nutty and creamy facets. I think it's the kind of vetiver you might enjoy or at least find interesting.
@@RichardOliverAaron is reviewing the EDP even though he keeps saying EDT in the video. This is in a frosted bottle - the EDT came in a totally clear bottle. The video title also says EDP v Parfum
Amouage beach hut man for a Vetiver scent. Eternal and projects immensely. I would call it a green/fresh cologne with a somewhat smokey woody dry down.
Can’t wait for Vetiver Guerlain and Extreme versions. I also love Heeley Vetiver Veritas but it’s £135 for 50ml !! I also have a hunch you might LOVE Diptyque Vetyverico Eau de Parfum which would be perfect for your review. Creed’s original Vetiver is also iconic if you can find it the one from 2004. Thank you Aaron 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Aaron in the same genre you need to try Bois Imperial 🌿 by Quentin Bisch /Essentiel Parfum To me it is the perfect combination between Grey Vetiver EDP and Ganymede by Marc Antoine Barrois 👍(Same perfumer as Ganymede)
When you make a whole vetiver fragrance-round I can recommend you to try "Nuit de Megeve" from Eight & Bob. Its very interesting smooth sweet vetiver scent!
My favourite and signature used to be Guerlain Vetiver Extreme then I switched to Nishane Sultan Vetiver but it’s very powerful so I’ve moved back to Guerlain Vetiver and the Extreme version ..
L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Vetiver by Issey Miyake is a great light airy vetiver that's watery and really isn't too vetiver heavy. The best part is it's priced well now that it's been out for a while. Performs nicely for en EDT intense.
EDP version is my absolute favorite but I try to wear Lalique Encre Noire A L’extreme more often as it’s an amazing while still affordable Vetiver perfume.
Oh and Montale VETIVER PATCHOULI is a luxurious and sophisticated fragrance that perfectly captures the essence of vetiver and patchouli. The scent opens with top notes of citrus and spices, which give way to a heart of rich, earthy vetiver and patchouli.
Aaron thank you very much for a great review as always 🙏 Could you review Nishane: Afrika-Olifant It is an amazing fragrance (my favourite) and I want to hear your thoughts and the assessment of the ingredients.
Hello Aaron. Any chance you can review Galloway by PDM? I recently bought a sample and wanted to see your breakdown before I commit to a full bottle. Keep up the good work!
I don't personally like dirty/smoky vetiver, I dislike Encre Noire line for example. But Mancera's Vetiver Sensuel is a very easy bright vetiver. I would guess it's a bit similar to Tom Fords Grey Vetiver EDT.
I'd love to hear your opinion on Dunhill Egyptian Smoke since it's right up your alley on what you like. Fragrantica gets several of the notes wrong however compared to Dunhill's website
No way!😉 NAXOS is too sweet for the summer, and LAYTON Exclusif is too “dark” for a summer event, animalic with a smoky, coffee vibe. Don’t get me wrong - I own both -: They are both AWESOME fragrances, but not for the summer! Only LAYTON could be an option, to my humble opinion (don’t go heavy..). My suggestion: Get ISOLA BLUE and you will smell like no other! Summer, day, night, elegant, sexy, classy, masculine, everything in a bottle!👋👋
I've had both the tom ford vetiver parfum and guerlain vetiver at the same time. Kept the guerlain and sold the tf. The huge price difference is not worth it and i prefer the guerlain ❤
Great review as always! Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver Eau de Toilette is my favourite of his "Greys". It's lighter, brighter and more versatile. Such a shame that it's been discontinued. I also do like Guerlain's Vetiver. Very good, but a bit more old school.
Hey Aaron, i love your work. Im loking for your oppinion :) Which one would you choose for a summer wedding (36 male) Naxos or Layton exclusif? :) thank you for your advice!
Aaron's mentioned that he doesn't really read the comments anymore. I'd steer clear of Naxos for a summer wedding! Too powerful and rich of cherry tobacco and honey. Layton Exclusif, on the other hand, ought to be great. Just dial in the right quantity and spray points for you over a couple days. I think about 70% of other people who have smelled both would agree, another 15% would tell you to try both yourself, and the other 15% would recommend Naxos or something else.
@@tessiermail Hey! Thank you for the advice! In hi review of Naxos, he said its getting way better in heat, under UV, thats why i though Naxos might be great, but LE is more sensual, etc.
Hey, I’m considering to add a nice vetiver fragrance. I have two on my list. The TF grey vetiver EDP or Terre d’Hermes vetiver extreme. Who can help me out with my choice?
Love both versions but the parfum is a bit to heavy imo. IMO a lot of the Tom ford parfums are just way intense and almost off putting at times. Also Aaron is the 🐐 love your videos.
We did not have our bottle of Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver EDT. We did not engage our higher selves. But we got testing. Something isn't adding up in this universe.
Discontinued long ago, Goutal's original 1985, Vetiver, in EdT concentration, was one of the best vetivers ever. Lots of different vetiver out there, so people will be diverse in their suggestions. I don’t like the smokey, dirty type, so if you like a fluffier, amber vetiver (which you probably won’t lol) Au Coeur du Désert by Tauer is good, (but not daily). Terre d'Hermès also works. Generally, I love vetiver, citrus & oriental scents. The one I have a hard time with, both the name lol, & the scent is, Fat Electrician Semi-Modern Vetiver. Just NO. Also since you’re in Mexico often, did you know that you can *drink* vetiver or barley water & cool your body down on a hot day? It’s also a moth repellent If you’re still there, be careful of El Popo…theres alotta ash coming from that volcano Stay safe. Vetiver tea • 4 cups water to boil • 8-10 strands of Vetiver roots, washed and chopped • Optional - Lemon, ginger, pinch of black pepper, Sweetener of your choice. Boil all of this in a pot till the time when water has reduced by ½ half. Drink.
Respectfully, why don't you stop all this social media stuff and actually make some fragrances? I have been trying to buy stuff for about 2 months and everything on your site is sold out. Why talk about other people (who are actually making fragrances) rather than make your own (excellent) products?
I may be confusing because it is a video, but to me this bottle is from the EDP and no the EDT. The EDP is more matte and the EDT is clearer.
Yes have fixed title now sorry
Thanks for the correction...I thought I was going bonkers @@AaronTerenceHughes
Hi Arren! Mancera's Vetiver Sensuel is a great extremely easy to wear vetiver scent. Has a lot of citrus along with vetiver. I found it like an easier version of Guerlain's Vetiver.
Tip: try bois de vetiver by karl lagerfeld if you like this style of vetiver! Lots of similarities with vetiver sensuel, and very affordable.
This is the video we've all been waiting for. Thank you Aaron! Love Vertiver scents
The Encre Noire line is good. I know you already reviewed the original EdT. There's Encre Noire Sport that's fresher. And there's Encre Noire a la Extreme which is an eau de parfum

I have all the Encre Noir scents. I love them. The Sport is definitely fresher but I think I still prefer the original version above the others.

Guerlain's vetiver has been around since 1959 and it's still very much loved. I think that's something.
While the Eau de Toilette was discontinued, there's still the Eau de Parfum.

DS Durga St. Vetyver (green and aromatic)
Fragrance Du Bois Cannabis Blue (green and woody)
Jovoy Private Blend (leathery and smoky)
