Fractured skull from a bike accident as a seven year old. I turn 55 this year. I have suffered dysthymia for as long as I can remember. Diagnosed ten years ago. Seriously debilitating. Downward pressure on career progression, serious impacts on friendships, my more intimate relationships, achieving goals generally. I have a very tough time convincing my family that there is anything wrong. They expect things from me that I simply cannot produce.

I can't tell you how happy I am to know that research is being conducted on this topic. Having suffered a severe TBI in 2008, the last few years I have begun experiencing almost debilitating depression that has begun to truly effect my quality of life. So thank you for sharing this video! There is so little research out there about the long-term effects of TBI, especially as it relates to depression!

27 year TBI survivor here from a bad car wreck on 3/31/97... I was in the hospital for 26 days and in physical therapy for 18 months... I struggle with repeating myself, word finding, poor temper, poor multitasking skills etc... I attempted and failed at several careers post TBI -(Special Education Teacher,Car Salesman,911 Radio Dispatcher)... The combination of TBI issues,PTSD issues and Career Failures led to increased Depression,Anxiety and Suicidal Thoughts... I now have a somewhat decent quality of life... I FINALLY received SSDI-( Social Security Disability Income ) after 15 years,4 appeals and 3 attorneys... I drive part time for a car dealership, build model cars as a hobby and facilitate a TBI support group... These activities give meaning to my life, help me deal with my TBI and PTSD issues, and improve my self esteem..
