***** Yes! When hurricane Floyd touched down in my city of Princeville NC in 2001 there was a great flood that killed many people. He sent lots of money for the rebuild and charitable for many. I was grateful because we lost a lot. I thought about them dying so close together as well! How ironic..He said she was the female image of him and that's why he gave her the name Vanity. I was so sad yesterday I cried.. :(

Seeing that she never looked back at Babylon and went on to tell her story and minister to others is phenomenal. Didn't realized she was an Evangelist or that she had past til today. I saw a video of Prince in concert and he mentioned her passing an wanted to dedicated the first #s to her memory. He was truly in mourning for her. 2 months later, he himself left us. Glad she had G-d in her life before and happy! May they both RIP. 💕 🌹🙏 ✝

I just read an article about her funeral by Appolonia Kotero. She said she loved Denise very much and that her and Brenda got baptized at her funeral . Still saving souls. She will always be my reference of someone who truly walked the walk.

Wow!!!! Last night, before watching this or knowing anything about Vanity, I told myself I wasn't smart enough to understand the concept of Jesus being God and therefore I could not be a Christian. Today, a few hours ago Purple Rain was on TV and after watching the last final scenes, I was curious to learn about the actors and musicians in that movie.... My search somehow led me to "Vannity". Then my search led me to This video. .... And I cried and laughed the entire time I watched Ms. Matthews preach. not only did I learn what I needed to learn, but I believe my life will be transformed because of this. I didn't know Denise. The Last Dragon was one of my FAVORITE movies growing up! When I heard she passed away last week, I thought to myself "Hey...why haven't I seen her in any movies after the 80's. Because there is no way that someone this beautiful and talented would disappear from show business without a good reason" Then I read as much information I could find about her, hearing her story, about everything she had been through, and her CHOOSING to leave the business. Her story is nothing short of miraculous. I know she is not very proud of her past, which makes me kind of sad. Because her performance as Laura Charles touched my life. I'm glad she is home and at peace. My condolences to all her friends and family

Though I am not a born again Christian I must say that I enjoyed her sermon, and applaud her truth. I was heart sick to hear of her passing. I wish that never had to happen, but I do believe she left this world full of peace, and without fear. Now she's with one of her dearest friends, another loss we never saw coming. THE CHRISTIAN ICHTUS I grew up in the faith and she's teaching it in this sermon. In reply to Lenny Jacbos, they're wrong, that is not the official doctrine of Jesus name, Apostolic Pentecostal churches. That is what others claim they teach. If you want to boil it all down, it's as simple as this. They're Pentecostal in believing miracles, tongues and so forth still happen today and the separation comes from the belief that you must be baptized by saying "in Jesus name" and not "Father Son and Holy Spirit". I'm not going into a point by point here with holiness doctrine and so forth. The fact here is we can all agree on is that Vanity became a Christian minister and served God the best she knew how. Let her rest.

Prince had been spiritual all his life. It was later he became a Jehovah's Witness. He stopped the cussing and promiscuity. He focused on his beliefs and strived to live the life that pleases God(Jehovah) . He had no problem with having a conversation about his spiritual relationship. He read the Bible, attended services, and even knocked on doors to spread the word. He lived the life he felt was right for the Lord. I don't believe in religion but I do believe in having a relationship with God and Christ. He did that and from the love he's received all over the world, I'm sure God has said well done.
There's very few people that have a certain something about them, and SHE was one of them. I had been reading about her weeks before she passed, and when I heard about, it broke my heart. She was a beautiful woman inside and out, who grew to to love the Lord. Going back to her old days, she still had that certain sometime that I've never seen in other famous women. And now its a blessing to be able to hear her words. She will always be a beautiful soul in heaven. RIP Denise....you were truly one of a kind!
Vanity was a childhood crush of mine, and I didn't know of all the horrors she dealt with in the 80s -- I admire her tenacity and glad she found her spiritual journey. I only found out she passed-on today while watching an interview she did with Gary Shandling (who also just passed on). Tragic she passed on still fairly young. RIP

Today was turning out to be another lazy lukewarm Saturday for me and I was considering watching one of my favorite 80's movies starring (Vanity), as I began to watch it I considered sister Matthews and the testimony she poured out over the final years of her life and felt convicted that if I was determined to hear from her legacy then it should be that which she left behind for Christ's sake, which brought me to this video. It truly did bless, provoke and encourage me to pursue God with my whole heart today.
I knew who she was as I graduated in the early 80's. I knew she had been saved. I saw her on TMZ 1st of all asking her some irrelevant question & her answer was awesome! She said, "Oh I don't talk about that life anymore, but if you want to talk about Jesus I can talk about Him all day long." I loved it!!! She was so great!!!! Then a few years later I saw her on FOX News doing a pro & con thing about abortion or something I really don't recall what. Anyway she was speaking up for the Christian viewpoint & the news reporter was very rude & short with her & cut her off so she couldn't finish what she was trying to say. It was really rude. I'm thinking maybe it was Megan Kelly but can't be sure. Anyway Denise seemed like such a wonderful genuine person. I would love to have been able to met her.💕
I wish she knew how much this particular sermon impacted me. I, also have lived a worldly life. I am about to leave my high paying job to take care of my mental, emotional health, and physical health. When she speaks about being broke but happy;I can identify. I am a black woman who got her education, bought a house, and made the wrong choices in spite of this. I was more happy making less money. I used to go against knowing about Jesus. I had to research Africans history I found the truth about how that is my ancestral story. Now, she has helped me to know that I cannot do anything w/o a higher power. Thank you so much. When I was a young girl, she was one of my greatest idols, I was a shy, girl constantly picked on for being "ugly with glasses" but I was a hardcore lover of Prince & Vanity 6. Being "one of the girls"With her I felt secretly attractive- Then, when I actually grew up and became "attractive " I could pretend the confidence that I didn't feel- Then I really grew up took an express trip or two to hell on earth and and knew, as Denise did, that only Faith in God can get you through this world. Even I found out the creepiness and self-serving hyper sexual culture of Hollywood,, where people would do anything to be SEEN by MILLIONS. All I can say is- congratulations my sister. I have to admit that I never looked into Denise's life since I first saw and heard her back in the mid 80's until just recently. She is truly a gift and I regret not following her before now. Yes, I thought the exact same thing when they died a few months apart. I didn't know that anybody else had connected those dots. On another note, none of them had kids. I'm talking about Prince, Vanity, Sheila E. and Apollonia. To think......all of those good looks and talent in the same circle and no kids from any of them. This was one of those rare occurrences.
I spoke to her briefly when she was writing the book. I had pre-ordered one. She still inspires me today especially her example of suffering sincerely. Denise was like a frolicking colt like scripture says we should be when we are on fire for the Lord. She was new and more beautiful as she got closer to going home. Praise God!

God’s grace was truly sufficient for her and his strength was perfect in her weakness (rf 2Cor 12:9). God used her in a mighty way while in this realm here and God continues to use her since her spiritual transition in an even greater way as his voice crying out in this wilderness. I just read an article about her funeral by Appolonia Kotero. She said she loved Denise very much and that her and Brenda got baptized at her funeral . Still saving souls. She will always be my reference of someone who truly walked the walk.

Wow!!!! Last night, before watching this or knowing anything about Vanity, I told myself I wasn't smart enough to understand the concept of Jesus being God and therefore I could not be a Christian. Today, a few hours ago Purple Rain was on TV and after watching the last final scenes, I was curious to learn about the actors and musicians in that movie....
My search somehow led me to "Vannity". Then my search led me to This video. .... And I cried and laughed the entire time I watched Ms. Matthews preach. not only did I learn what I needed to learn, but I believe my life will be transformed because of this.

I didn't know Denise. The Last Dragon was one of my FAVORITE movies growing up! When I heard she passed away last week, I thought to myself "Hey...why haven't I seen her in any movies after the 80's. Because there is no way that someone this beautiful and talented would disappear from show business without a good reason" Then I read as much information I could find about her, hearing her story, about everything she had been through, and her CHOOSING to leave the business. Her story is nothing short of miraculous. I know she is not very proud of her past, which makes me kind of sad. Because her performance as Laura Charles touched my life. I'm glad she is home and at peace. My condolences to all her friends and family

In reply to Lenny Jacbos, they're wrong, that is not the official doctrine of Jesus name, Apostolic Pentecostal churches. That is what others claim they teach. If you want to boil it all down, it's as simple as this. They're Pentecostal in believing miracles, tongues and so forth still happen today and the separation comes from the belief that you must be baptized by saying "in Jesus name" and not "Father Son and Holy Spirit". I'm not going into a point by point here with holiness doctrine and so forth. The fact here is we can all agree on is that Vanity became a Christian minister and served God the best she knew how. Let her rest.

Prince had been spiritual all his life. It was later he became a Jehovah's Witness. He stopped the cussing and promiscuity. He focused on his beliefs and strived to live the life that pleases God(Jehovah) . He had no problem with having a conversation about his spiritual relationship. He read the Bible, attended services, and even knocked on doors to spread the word. He lived the life he felt was right for the Lord. I don't believe in religion but I do believe in having a relationship with God and Christ. He did that and from the love he's received all over the world, I'm sure God has said well done.

Vanity was a childhood crush of mine, and I didn't know of all the horrors she dealt with in the 80s -- I admire her tenacity and glad she found her spiritual journey. I only found out she passed-on today while watching an interview she did with Gary Shandling (who also just passed on). Tragic she passed on still fairly young. RIP

Today was turning out to be another lazy lukewarm Saturday for me and I was considering watching one of my favorite 80's movies starring (Vanity), as I began to watch it I considered sister Matthews and the testimony she poured out over the final years of her life and felt convicted that if I was determined to hear from her legacy then it should be that which she left behind for Christ's sake, which brought me to this video. It truly did bless, provoke and encourage me to pursue God with my whole heart today.
I knew who she was as I graduated in the early 80's. I knew she had been saved. I saw her on TMZ 1st of all asking her some irrelevant question & her answer was awesome! She said, "Oh I don't talk about that life anymore, but if you want to talk about Jesus I can talk about Him all day long." I loved it!!! She was so great!!!! Then a few years later I saw her on FOX News doing a pro & con thing about abortion or something I really don't recall what. Anyway she was speaking up for the Christian viewpoint & the news reporter was very rude & short with her & cut her off so she couldn't finish what she was trying to say. It was really rude. I'm thinking maybe it was Megan Kelly but can't be sure. Anyway Denise seemed like such a wonderful genuine person. I would love to have been able to met her.💕

I wish she knew how much this particular sermon impacted me. I, also have lived a worldly life. I am about to leave my high paying job to take care of my mental, emotional health, and physical health. When she speaks about being broke but happy;I can identify. I am a black woman who got her education, bought a house, and made the wrong choices in spite of this. I was more happy making less money. I used to go against knowing about Jesus. I had to research Africans history I found the truth about how that is my ancestral story. Now, she has helped me to know that I cannot do anything w/o a higher power. Thank you so much. God rest your soul. Bless anyone who will read this and is struggling in life.

When I was a young girl, she was one of my greatest idols, I was a shy, girl constantly picked on for being "ugly with glasses" but I was a hardcore lover of Prince & Vanity 6. Being "one of the girls"With her I felt secretly attractive- Then, when I actually grew up and became "attractive " I could pretend the confidence that I didn't feel- Then I really grew up took an express trip or two to hell on earth and and knew, as Denise did, that only Faith in God can get you through this world. Even I found out the creepiness and self-serving hyper sexual culture of Hollywood,, where people would do anything to be SEEN by MILLIONS. All I can say is- congratulations my sister. My heart skipped a beat and was sorely pained when I heard of your passing- but moments later I was smiling and praising God that " My Girl made It"" HAHA!! CAN THE CHURCH SAY AMEN!! Farewell, congratulations and have a Ball from someone you never knew, will never know but sure does feel ya Sista!! Lol!! Oh- Blessings to all y'all out there too ! Lol!

I have to admit that I never looked into Denise's life since I first saw and heard her back in the mid 80's until just recently. She is truly a gift and I regret not following her before now. Heaven has gained another angel and it is very obvious that here love for our God and our savior Jesus Christ is genuine. Thanks for sharing. :)

I spoke to her briefly when she was writing the book. I had pre-ordered one. She still inspires me today especially her example of suffering sincerely. Denise was like a frolicking colt like scripture says we should be when we are on fire for the Lord. She was new and more beautiful as she got closer to going home. Praise God!

She is truly God’s humble servant, carries his seed of his Word in her spiritual womb to birth sons and daughters into their inheritance in God through Christ Jesus. Amazing Woman Of God who suffered much, turned to Jesus in her crisis, cried out with a loud voice and Jesus heard and answered her cries. And when the Lord saw her , he had compassion on her and said unto her Weep not” ~ Luke 7:13. She searched for him with her whole heart and found him, the Lord Jesus, love of her life. She is full of the Word, Spirit and Love of the Almighty God. God had his way with her and made her a warrior in her generation. A true witness, prophetic intercessor, exhorter In righteousness, preacher, gifts of word of knowledge and wisdom, prophecy, tongues, faith, healings, and charity and so much more. God’s grace was truly sufficient for her and his strength was perfect in her weakness (rf 2Cor 12:9). God used her in a mighty way while in this realm here and God continues to use her since her spiritual transition in an even greater way as his voice crying out in this wilderness.
