- The Baobab trees (also known as an upside down bottles or monkey bread trees) are believed to be the largest succulents in the world as well as some of the tallest trees. There are several different species that vary somewhat in appearance, but all are deciduous, flowering trees that can live for hundreds and even thousands of years. They are slow-growing trees that are indigenous to Madagascar, Africa and Australia. They can grow up to 70 feet tall and feature an over-sized, extremely wide caudex that the plant utilizes for water storage during the dry season. The bark is brown and gray and typically smooth, though it can crack and bend as the tree ages. Leaves are elongated and appear in clusters of up to seven leaflets. During the winter the plant sheds its leaves only to grow them again in the springtime and summer.

I was thinking.. I'm gonna grow one of those in a farm.. and then I learned it takes 60 years for it to grow 10 feet, and about 1000 years for them to look like those in the video

I wonder what their root systems look like. It doesn't seem like they have enough leaves the sustain themselves.

The Baobab tree is a strange looking tree in Africa and Australia.
바오밥 나무는 아프리카와 호주에 있는 이상하게 생긴 나무이다.
They don't have leaves until they are 9 years old.
그들은 9살이 되서야 잎이 나기 시작한다.
Without leaves, the tree branches look like roots.
잎이 없다면, 그 나무 가지들은 뿌리처럼 보인다.
So baobab trees are known by the nickname, "upside down trees."

There are even legends about this strange looking tree.

One legend says God created the baobab as the strongest tree in the world.

Because the baobab knew that, it became very proud.

It tried to show everyone how great was it by moving all around.

This made God upset, so God took the baobab out of the ground and planted it upside down.

The other trees each had something the baobab didn't have, so the baobab tree envied them.

The baobab wanted to have the palm tree's height, the flame tree's beautiful flowers, and the fig tree's fruit, so it asked God to have all of them.
바오밥 나무는 야자나무의 높이와 호주 벽오동의 아름다운 꽃, 그리고 무화과 나무의 과실을 가지길 원했다. 그래서 이 모든 걸 가지게 해달라고 신에게 부탁했다.
Then God became angry and pulled it up, then replanted it upside down to punish it.
그러자 신은 화가 나서, 바오밥 나무를 뽑아 버린 후 , 벌을 주기 위해 뒤집어 심었다.

Legend holds that when the Baobab was planted by God, it kept walking, so God pulled it up and replanted it upside down to stop it from moving.

Dude, where do you get your info from lol. There are nine species. Six species live in the drier parts of Madagascar, two in mainland Africa, one in Australia and three in India, Ranchi.
