You can tell that Roy is odd but still loves his son. When going for the bucket of Groltons Chicken, he tore apart multiple people in a horrifying massacre, but only moved his son aside with a stern grunt to get him to leave. He didn't even come for the chicken, he only saw it once he entered.

Considering how many of these kinds of compilations I have seen in such a short time of it being out, I feel like Matpat (Film Theory) will say that the community really ripped these episodes apart
for context about roy kiling the family: when tonley threw roy (in yellow guys head) in the garbage, roy took that as an insult. later on, he starts to gain his control. causing him and leslie to have mind control of the 3. so, with his new fatal power, roy kills the family in revenge for saying that he doesnt love his son.

I think that in this tv show, as opposed to the web series, Roy is actually not a bad person. He does defend his son from the creep family, albeit in the weirdest way possible
He wasn’t a bad guy in the old series either, the way I see it. As you can see he’s always been protective or at least very watchful. And in the web series it seemed more like him just doing something a protective father would do, giving him education and life inside of a bubble like it’s being done here.

Roy kind of represents that isolated feel of this series and the originals. Whereas the pilot, not having the isolated feel, didn’t have any Roy in it.
That's because the pilot was originally going to be far more political and would've involved current events, but the creators scrapped it in favor of keeping the lesson-based, “dark children's show parody” formula.
