The situation where you had used nearly all your items, have VERY low health (peril state even), and you have no chance at beating Bowser. The stakes were at the highest, and it wasn't even the final battle yet..

The worst surprise ever was having you fight Bowser right after the Grodus fight, which was already grueling. What a masterpiece of a game. Definitely one of my favs for sure
I love how bowser wasn't the main bad guy of this game, but it felt like Nintendo wanted him to be so bad just from this theme alone.
I felt more like after 8 chapters of treating him as a complete joke, this was the point when they made sure to remind you he’s still Mario’s archnemesis and at any moment he can become threatening again.
@@MegaBrokenstar essentially bowser. Can be seen as a joke and treated as one, but can easily be a huge threat, such as bowsers inside story, dream team, the galaxy games, and bowsers fury.

Well tbf this fight was as threatening as it could get. Appearing right after Grodus. And if you lost, you had to fight Grodus again.
Say what you will about Bowser being late to a lot of the stuff in this game, keep in mind the scene he's back in Rogue Port later in the game, in a city crawling with thieves, murderers, and a local mafia, all of them fucking *flee in absolute terror* the moment they see Bowser approaching even in spite of Bowser being in a weakened state.
And remember how Bowser flattened Rawk Hawk in a single hit.

The remade version of this for the remake is going to go absolutely crazy, I just know it.
EDIT: I know a few people in the replies here aren’t the hugest fans of the remade version (which is totally fair), but having just beaten the remake, I really enjoyed the new version! IMO, it did, in fact, go crazy.
It’s definitely not a replacement for this version or anything like that (again, I can absolutely see how someone would prefer this version, and I still love the original myself), but I think they did a solid job in the remake with this theme.
I’m up for it!

This battle after fighting grodus was the hardest challenge in any video game to me. I never caught on to the level up truck after beating grodus, but I did spend countless retries at this battle, far more than any dark souls boss!
Was quite easy for me last time, but I was lucky to get a lvl up right after defeating Grodus.
@@Xerkrosis Yes, in Fact, most guides literally reccomend to Grind before Grodus so you level Up after beating him!

Yeah my dumbass never used the fortunes or nailed a level up from grodus. Good thing i practiced my counters extensively
I know it was kinda BS, but I hope you still fight Bowser straight after Grodus with no saves or recover. Let the newer generations experience that kind of fun!

@@BigAlvideos101 Nintendo is so gorilla glued to the concept of 200% family friendly that the actually fairly dark and mature tones (By Nintendo standards) would NEVER pass the approval phase these days.

Probably the hardest hitting boss theme in the game, up there with the Smorg battle.

This fight just screams "random overpowered guy storms in to kick your ass for no reason" which, considering Bowser's role throughout the game, fits incredibly well.

When he spends the entire game speaking to posters and then he suddenly appears and fights you in the final dungeon. Geez, even when he's comic relief, Bowser is awesome.
I accidentally got a level up right after I beat grodus and the Bowser fight was relatively easy for me. Of course, I leveled up everyone to ultra rank and kept using fiery jinx on both Bowser and Kammy and kept giving them the burn status. I had on 3 damage dodge, 2 defense plus, 3 power plus, 2 simplifiers, and peekaboo badges.
Ummm, am I seeing things, or is that *Bowser?!* You know, the guy you beat up all the time??
HP is 30, attack power is 2, def is 1.
But what is Bowser doing here?! I didn't think he came to Glitzville...?

They better Keep this theme untouched in the remake, maybe use cleaner samples or a faster BPM but it otherwise goes hard as is.

The one boss fight in the game that you are almost guaranteed to lose since it's so sudden. Players who barely beat Grodus, or on low health, or have low items aren't going to be prepared here because you immediately fight Bowser WITH Kammy Koopa backing him up. And Kammy is much of problem in the fight with Bowser. The best shot is gaining a level up from Grodus if you honestly feel like you have no chance

Imagine if Smash Bros had special themes that would play depending on the matchup, and if Mario was in a match with Bowser then this would play
