Hi Mike, enjoying the lessons, great stuff. However I think you could play White Cliffs Of Dover on TH-cam as it's over 70 years old and in the public domain in most countries as far as I know.
Why leave out the the ring finger? If you have four strings pick with four fingers: thumb, index, middle and ring. (pima) . I teach.I encourage students to pick other instruments such as guitar banjo. and especially banjolele.(tuned same as ukulele). Guitar (six strings) uses pima. Bluegrass banjo (plectrum) uses pima and the finger picks are on the flesh side of the fingers and thumb I teach pima using thumb down and fingers up which is standard for guitar and banjo. Love these lessons.
Look at banjo claw hammer finger style. Try picking down using the back of the fingernails. Watch Mark knopfler. He uses thumb, index and tall finger of the right hand but with fingers picking up
All you have to do to stop the copyright thing is just put down in the description " this is not my song and put the artist" or something of that nature :)

Mike, I like your videos, but I had a problem with this one. I was really following you through the video until you got to the "harp" part, when you suddenly performed a movement that sounded great, and you even smiled when you played it. What you didn't do is really explain how you produced that sound, and it made me feel like you were showing off instead of teaching me how to replicate what you were doing. Maybe I'm just not at the ability level for this arpeggio strum, and others understood what you were doing. I didn't. Otherwise, excellent video.
Marty, I don't know if you ever got an answer to your question about the "harp" sound, but it is quite easy to do, thumb on the 4th string, index on the second and middle on the first then pluck all of the strings - virtually at the same time - except that there is an extremely slight delay between the plucking movement of the index after the thumb, then the same slight delay repeated with the middle finger after the index finger - almost like a gentle rolling type movement of the fingers. Play around with it a bit, and you will soon hear the sound coming through. Hope this is of help and as Mike constantly tells us ' Happy strumming'

Just want to say something about "fair use," because I feel we should not promote the misconception that fair use applies to all "educational" uses. It doesn't. "Educational" use is just one of the four major factors that helps to determine if something is fair use. The factor that is often called into question with internet distribution is "effect of the use on potential market." Even for educational use, this factor often limits distribution to one time classroom personal use, which is much different than what we see with youtube distribution. Because of this, teachers are not supposed to make copies of materials for their students, etc. This particular use here could also be seen as commercial, since, ultimately, you promote your professional services. Looked at this way, a video like this could potentially be commercial while simultaneously damaging the market value of the copyrighted material, in which case, it would not be fair use. I like your videos and I'm a huge proponent of fair use and creative commons, but I feel we should help people understand how to use them properly. These determinations are complex sometimes, and you may prevail. Good luck with your efforts.
Like you, I am a huge proponent of fair use. Music is essential for social cohesion and has been shared freely for centuries, until modern strict copyright restrictions were established. In my humble, there should be no paywall preventing people from teaching music, for free, without direct commercial gain. Educational Institutions are different as they receive funding and teachers have a salary, so I can see "fair use" not being applicable in that case. One could argue that teachers like Michael are introducing people to tunes and artists that people may not have known before, thus providing "free advertising" for these artists.
He actually explains why this is (at least for him in particular) during the beginning of this video. If you're not bothered to watch it to find out, it's because youtube tends to have a lot more copyright infringements handed out than a lot of other websites (vimeo in his case)
