The Basic variables doesn't refer to the corresponding row but the corresponding column which are the variables which won't be assumed to be equal to zero in the final simplex table. The non basic variables are those which we equate to zero in case we have more variables than the number of equations.

The Basic variables doesn't refer to the corresponding row but the corresponding column which are the variables which won't be assumed to be equal to zero in the final simplex table. The non basic variables are those which we equate to zero in case we have more variables than the number of equations.

If iam correct, then the value of x1 and x2 in the conclusion is 8 and 2 respectively. But you had written it 12 and 16 as in the question itself... If you notice that, please rearrange it.
