For PC and Switch, I got the 8bitdo Ultimate. It's 54$ on amazon right now. It comes with hall effect sticks, rear triggers and a charging base. You can use it wired, wireless USB or bluetooth. Best value ever - I really wish they'd make a PS5 controller because I'm not paying $200 for a controller.
Tried a hex gaming controller, purchased it in FEB 24 and by May 24 it had “stick drift” in the left stick. It wouldn’t just move on its own but would do circles and fast jitters left and right. It was still under the warranty period so I tried to get it replaced but they said it was a result of me not using the rings they provide for the thumb stick. If you’re a competitive gamer those silicone rings make the controller feel horrible. Flash forward to now where the controller is totally unusable, the left stick problem just got worse and worse to the point now it is always ready circle inputs even when sitting on the desk untouched. $190 paper weight after 5 months and horrible customer support. DO NOT BUY ONE
Hmm yea that’s interesting. All controllers get drift honestly and I’m surprised they told you that. Even if you did use the rings you still can get drift. I would’ve argued with them more
He said they can come with hall effect sticks so that's probably why.. it's a few companies that are putting those in controllers nowadays you just have to ask for it.
you gonna have this drift issue eventually if u using controller, no matter which brand u bought, battle beaver , cinchgaming , orginal ps o xbox, every single choice if they use AIPS, like he said the hall effect should be standard , but even that u have notice that controller is just a consumer product, its a business , no matter who make it, they need to earn the bucks from there, beware of that , that a fkin a indisputable facts
I've literally just received mine with the HE sticks and they're AMAZING!! took a few hours to get used to but I'm absolutely cracked at accuracy now like I've never been more accurate
@@newmandude6532 Yup! its less of the thumb stick themselves but the module that controls the thumbstick underneath. So directly underneath the stick that your thumb sits on can either be use potientiometers (which uses springs that wear out over time) or hall effect (which uses magnets that are much less prone to wear and tear)
I've been looking for an in-depth usage video on the controller, your video answer most of my questions! thanks a lot! I ordered one from their Kickstarter campaign, waiting for it to come in so I can give my own thoughts, I have a feeling only two of the back buttons will be truly usable by the average person, because not everyone's hand is the same
The costs difference between a potentiometer joystick and a hall effect joystick is about 80 cents so the upcharge for hall effects are a little ridiculous
super cool detailed vid. as a pick up and play user, this makes me interested in custom controllers and checking out tailoring my controls to different games. i will keep this Phantom controller in mind. nice editing and set up!
@@gg_sheed I have had the original PS5 rise remap kit for 3 years. With 3-4 hours pretty much everyday. Not a single malfunction. U won’t be disappointed. However I don’t drop my controllers like some people. If u don’t abuse the controller it will last forever. (the plastic one)
I change the first one then I had to buy a other dual sense edge because I didn't find dual stick mods on my third one now. Second dual sense edge was a Bring it back it was defective.
I upgraded my scuf sticks to hall effects so I guess I have the ultimate gaming controller now cause what any of these controllers got that a scuf doesn't? When i bought my scuf these other controllers didnt exist so having choice is great cause realistically scuf is STUPIDly and necessarily expensive.
@@mitchellgarcia4061 No problem! Definitely with the Hall Effect sticks. They will just last so much longer than the normal potentiometer ones. And they dont feel too much different either
Too bad they didnt provide the 'mid height' thumbsticks like they did in the old hexgaming controllers. It's either super high or nubby low, no mid profile and kontrol freaks dont work with it nor does the old hexgaming control thumbsticks. It's overpriced honestly. Dual sense is probably better overall. The back buttons instead of paddles are a choice. Mine came with stick drift on both sticks as well. About to see if it can be rectified with the stuff they send with it.
I really wouldn't flash the "no more stick drift" phrase anywhere near any review videos for this thing, that includes the thumbnail. The front PCB and tools doesn't fix stick drift at all, it simply pushes a half baked solution that'll become useless in almost no time in most cases. And the fix carried a few nasty drawbacks in total range and deadzones. If they used hall-effect sticks instead that were properly calibrated, then maybe there's a better argument (but even those might have a dodgey spring or retention clip go loose or something). Hall effect stick mods for dualsense have come leaps and bounds in less than the last 12 months alone (and especially in the last 1-2 months with the easy to use recalibration homebrew software that was reverse engineered from sony's own tech). I hope extremerate can go and make a V2.0 with hall effect thumbsticks.
They do have a Hall effect option which I wish was sent to me instead of this one. I agree the tools they provide isn’t a permanent fix for the issue, it just kind of delays it I def recommend getting the Hall effect version of this controller to circumvent the issue entirely
@@gg_sheed thanks for the reply. That's excellent news for the fact they have a hall effect option! (I didn't watch carefully enough evidently!) I wonder if this half implies extremerate themselves might start selling hall effect sticks under their own stores (or if this will end up staying a prefitted Hexgaming-only type thing). The switchable digital trigger/analogue trigger is one feature I'm really curious about: - I assume it retains the adaptive trigger features when in long throw analogue mode? - And I assume you'll have to manually switch off the adaptive trigger feature in the PS5 options when using the clicky digital triggers as well? Its a feature I really wish extremerate could trickle down to their DIY stores away from hex gaming exclusivity. I'd be able to complete my diy hall effect modded ps5 pro controller if they do!
@@naliboi93 Yup if you are in "long throw" mode it will keep the adaptive triggers! but if you want to use the clicky digital triggers you dont have to turn off the adaptive trigger feature actually. It will work with the setting turned on still. That would be great if they started selling hall effect sticks! I mean hexgaming is sort of a separate company but I could see extremeRate doing something like this.
Dont buy duel sense either. Its trash. Only had it for 10 months, and the rubber already came off the back. Right out of the box, the Circle button was sticky and never stopped. The battery life is terrible. Had to change thumb sticks the first 90 days i got it. Stick drift. Its a 200$ when ur friend comes over to play u give them the broken controller.
Okay instead of complaining did you turn it into warranty and have them return you a new one or did you just hang on to it and decide to get on TH-cam and bitch and complain about it
At this point imma start a small business soldering controllers.
Facts lol I’ve been thinking of learning how to solder as well…I wish I could start my own controller company
