Hi, I've a Canon C5550i, but it makes a noise like two pieces of metal rubbing together (like drum brakes on a motorcycle); This happens when the printer starts up, when it goes into standby mode, as well as when it comes out of standby mode to make copies. The technician says it could be the ITB (transfer belt) and some bearings. Have you had a similar case?

yes, some times bearing get contamination because of toner dust
