    The entire concept of the Church Choir came out of the Temple where Psalms were chanted back and forth. Also, the notation and style of Gregorian chants in certain modes that are closer to what is identified as minor keys, are straight from the ancient Synagogue. Very early Christianity was Jewish and so the hymns and style of worship used were the same as any other Synagogue, which came from the Temple.

      A lot of music styles have roots elsewhere. Jazz has roots in indigenous styles of Western Europe, West Africa, North America, and possibly South America. And said indigenous styles of Western Europe have roots weighted towards the Pontic region in days of yore, because most of the indigenous peoples of Western Europe today are Indo-European.

      No, actual ancient Hebrew psalms sound more like Mesopotamian music, the original melodies were destroyed in 70 AD along with the Temple of Jerusalem. Melodic motifs in Gregorian chant aren't really derived from ancient music. Haik-Vantoura's "transcriptions" of biblical psalms are a well constructed hoax. I read a great article by a Jewish musicologist who explains how the Cantellation marks that she supposedly interpreted simply DO NOT correspond with individual notes, and it's crazy to suggest that they do.

    I had an Experience when I was little...long story short I woke up in the middle of the night one time. To the sounds of singing. I couldn't make the language out nor Anything. But I know it was singing and the voice(s) were so beautiful. Till this day I always come to mind what that could of been...And this song right here is by far the closest thing to its sound. Though human it sounds about close to it.

      Well the media on how we preach god has to change and has to be up to date. The core message is there but how it’s presented needs to change with each culture or generation. Bible translations is a good example. You wouldn’t read the kjv translation to a high schooler because he won’t know what your talking about. You would probably need to read a esv,nlt or niv. Same with music. God should be presented multiple ways but with the same clear core message.

I grew up reading NIV but, when I got saved I realized that some of the text was changed in that bible. So I used the KJV bc it’s not tampered with. Now I’ll admit it was hard understanding it at first. But now a year later it speaks way more in one verse then the NIV in one chapter. If that makes sense. I’m not saying your take was wrong. I just wanted to add a different perspective. But be blessed. ❤️

      @@matthews1338 - according to Suzanne Haik Vantoura, to find the correct musical mode to which the steps of notes indicated by the Te Amim refer to, only the correct mode will give precisely the meaning and emphasis to the original text to which the music was originally created to accompany.
      In other words, an incredibly laborious process of test and elimination, until both melody and the corresponding emphasis/meaning it gives to the original Hebrew text finally best correspond - although beyond scientific certainty that this music was the original music to which the text of the entire Hebrew Bible was originally sang, including the original tunes of the Psalms of David, for me, the music she revealed, speaks for itself.

      @jesuslovesyou1921 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@teachthetruth869 Jesus is God the Son - eternally begotten, not made nor created, for then he would be a creature.
      He is one in essence with the Father; coeternal; the exact image of the person of the Father and the "reflection of his glory," (Col. 1:15; Heb. 1:3) being in all things like him.
      He is the Son of God not only from the time he assumed our nature but from all eternity, as the following testimonies teach us when they are taken together.
      Moses says that God "created the world"; (Gen. 1:1) and John says that "all things were created by the Word," (John 1:3) which he calls God. The apostle says that "God made the world by his Son." (Heb. 1:2) He also says that "God created all things by Jesus Christ." (Col. 1:16) And so it must follow that he who is called God, the Word, the Son, and Jesus Christ already existed when all things were created by him.
      Therefore the prophet Micah says that his origin is "from ancient times, from eternity." (Mic. 5:2) And the apostle says that he has "neither beginning of days nor end of life." (Heb. 7:3)
      So then, he is the true eternal God, the Almighty, whom we invoke, worship, and serve. [From the Belgic Confession
      In the beginning *God created the heaven and the earth.
      *(In the original hebrew the word here for God was Elohim, plural.)
      Genesis 1:26
      And God said, Let *us make man in our image, after *our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
      *(Plural, meaning more than one, the Godhead.)
      Colossians 2:8, 9
      Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

      Where is the evidence for this? Since there is no written or archaeological proof for the existence of Christianity before the 1st century AD.
      On the other hand, the existence and customs of Jews are well attested-to, for hundreds of years before that point. Josephus was sponsored by the Roman state to literally describe the Jewish history--how would he do this if Judaism did not exist until hundreds of years later? Not to mention some Talmudic traditions were known and codified in fragments long before they were "officially" transcribed, and depending on who you ask, these are effectively additions or commentaries to Judaism as opposed to original teachings--making their source materials vastly older.
      It goes without saying, I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

    No, we don't. We have access to neither the music nor the phonetics of ancient Hebrew. It's not something we'll ever really be able to know for certain.
    We have the musical cantillation signs (Te’amim) on words, but different groups of Jews sing the different notes differently. We likely don’t have the original way of singing them, but there is some semblance in communities that have kept up with singing them with the Te’amim. It’s likely a chant more than a song by the way.

      This video is influenced by an obvious Latin language, Roman Catholic choir . The closest one can get to understand the melody of the ancient Hebrew psalms is to look at how modern Hebrews sing the psalms...Miqedem! The Hebrew language will dictate the tone and melody. People sing to the Lord from the heart from the common tongue. If there were ancient Hebrews who sang like this choir it’d be the Pharisees with their many words and empty hearts.

There is no one type of music, rather different interpretations. All things, whether by intent or ignorance, will give Glory to God. How can they not? I have never listened to this, it is beautiful. It made me think of God, of Christ, The Holy Spirit. Another may think of a calm river or a sunset, and yet those too are part of God, His expressions, His power, His love. Psalm 19 (ESV)
    To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
    1 The heavens declare the glory of God,
    and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
    2 Day to day pours out speech,
    and night to night reveals knowledge.
    3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
    whose voice is not heard.
    4 Their voice goes out through all the earth,
    and their words to the end of the world.
    In them he has set a tent for the sun,
    5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
    and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
    6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
    and its circuit to the end of them,
    and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
    7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
    reviving the soul;
    the testimony of the LORD is sure,
    making wise the simple;
    8 the precepts of the LORD are right,
    rejoicing the heart;
    the commandment of the LORD is pure,
    enlightening the eyes;
    9 the fear of the LORD is clean,
    enduring forever;
    the rules of the LORD are true,
    and righteous altogether.
    10 More to be desired are they than gold,
    even much fine gold;
    sweeter also than honey
    and drippings of the honeycomb.
    11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
    in keeping them there is great reward.
    12 Who can discern his errors?
    Declare me innocent from hidden faults.
    13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins;
    let them not have dominion over me!
    Then I shall be blameless,
    and innocent of great transgression.
    14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
    be acceptable in your sight,
    O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

      It could be or a triangle, but more probable this sound comes from small finger cymbals, like the bellydancer's ones, called zill o sagat in various languages, or it's made with bigger finger cymbals, similar to the Indian Khartal, or even the heavier type, used in meditation, called tingsha. In the Torah it's mentioned that the sister of Moses, Miryam, played hand drum, tambourine, zills, so more or less all the stuff you still find in oriental frame drums, riq (headed oriental tambourine) and finger cymbals.
      It's not that impossible they used a modern simple alloy chime, called energy chime, very often, as it awakens concentration, too, in music therapy or pedagogic contexts. These sounds are all very similar to each other.

      It was just a pity that back in 1976 when this was recorded, 'historically informed performance' was in its infancy - the use of modern orchestral trumpets and awful operatic vibrato style vocals sadly does distract from the elegant ancient purity of these melodies.
      If Susannah Haik Vantoura was correct in her remarkable musical discovery, (if only we could verify beyond doubt, that the 'Te Amim' accents were indeed, Levitical in origin) then these melodies could be maybe close to 3000 years old and would be the first notated art music in all of history to date!

    • @MichaelLevyMusic
      @MichaelLevyMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @javiermandujano35 - that is the crux of the problem! The evidence is only at best circumstantial. The specific sect of Judaism which preserved the accents, even after their original meaning was lost after the destruction of the Temple, was particularly devout and precise in how it preserved the Hebrew text of the Torah (believing the words were quite literally the breath of God & the building blocks of the universe itself).
      In the end, it comes down to how these melodies so perfectly enhance the meaning of the original Hebrew text, that it is statistically far more likely, that whoever penned the text of the Hebrew Bible, also created the melodies which so perfectly gave these words all their meaning, weight and emphasis.

      @Cardboard Cape we are all gods people. The Christians, the muslims, the jews, the hindus, the budhists we all just interpret the universal truth of god in different ways. claiming superiority over others because of the way you interpret god is wrong ! because he loves us all the same, no matter if you read the bible, the torah, the Quran or nothing at all..

      god is so powerful and soooo great ! he created humanity just so he ! and he alone, will have the pleasure to create them with default called sin ! so he can judge them heaven or hell ! and god will impregnante a woman among the humans. so another god will be born out of her. and this second god will sleep and eats and do everything just as a human would ! but in his late age. he will perform magic tricks as multipling breads and wines ! and he will reveal his identity to the ones ho followed him. but once his identity revealed ! peoples accused him of blasphemy. and he will be crusified for it. but all of that was meant to happens ! cause he died for your sins !!!! and yours ! and yours too ! was then ressurect 3 days later he will ressurect and appeared to his disciples only ! for a short time, and immediatly get back to heaven(hell). and if you don't believe that all of this story truly happened, and don't believe what some men a century after his death wroted. jesus will come back in the day of the REVELATIONS and will crush you with his bare hands for disbelieving in him ! happy for you ho believed and didn't see. may your faith be blind as we are fools to christ. for your god can curse the sins of there father even if the sons are innocents ! for you may take slaves for pagan tribes after burning them ! but remenber ! jesus love you 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😘😘✝✝✝✝✝✝✝ crosses = light ! DEUTERONOMY 13:12 "if you find a town that worships another god. you must kill everyone in it. men, women, childrens, and animals and burn the town to the ground" DEUTERONOMY 21:10 "you can r*pe captive women, but you cannot resell them as slaves" LUKE 14:26 "if anyone comes to me but does not hate his father, mother, wife, childrens and brother. yes! even he cannot be my disciple" JOHN 15:6 "if a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch and is withered, and men gather them, and cast them into fire, and they are burned" REVELATIONS 17 "come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great god! that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men."

    Great rendition of psam 19, however Haïk-Vantoura's "transcription" of the cantellation marks is flawed because she assumed they correspond with hand signals for individual notes, something she has no proof of. Most believe the marks refer to melodic motifs not notes. Is it a coincidence that her "transcription" of the marks sounds very Western?

    • @MichaelLevyMusic
      @MichaelLevyMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      The specific musical modes she somehow deduced which form the framework on which these notes should be sang, certainly don't sound 'Western' - I think she deduced the modes based on a process of elimination, as the original mode intended by the original Biblical authors would be the mode which best gives the most apt emphasis & meaning to the original Biblical text these melodies once framed.

    • @busterdouglas593
      @busterdouglas593 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MichaelLevyMusic"Somehow deduced" being the operative phrase here. The marks she "transcribed" in fact don't correspond with individual notes, her "transcription" is not accurate for that primary reason. Musicologists have largely rejected her ideas based on the fact that she bases all of this on an assumption that isn't consistent with Ancient Hebrew musical traditions.

    • @MichaelLevyMusic
      @MichaelLevyMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The reason why Gregorian chant and (what might be) the original music sang to the text of the Hebrew Bible in the Temple of Jerusalem may sound so similar, is probably since the first Christians, were, of course, Jews - music is always the 'invisible baggage' of cultural traditions, which like our own DNA, gets passed down through the ages until mutations transform it into something new...
