    Thank you so very much!
    I have no training, and am only learning to read music. I sing mostly by ear and do my best with a voice to emulate/mimic.
    I am the lone bass (most of the time) in a very small church choir with a lot of ambition.... Evident by the song I'm commenting under. ;)
    Having you and your videos to has been huge for me! (and us)
    Please keep posting, your talents are greatly appreciated!

    @perkinms Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it! Sounds like you're exactly the person I had in mind when I made the video! More Messiah up soon ...

    Hey Bass Hymn, any chance you would be able to post the bass part for Palestrina’s Jesu Rex Admirabilis? I think it’s a fairly easy piece but sounds great with 4 parts. Trying to learn for family carols this Christmas.

      @basshymn  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey - I might have a bit of time on Monday, so I’ll take a look. Thanks for the suggestion. We do family carols too, ha!

      basshymn thank you so much! Great work man! My parish choir in the KC area is doing Unto us a Child is born so I’ve been listening to this like crazy and it’s really helped. Many thanks for posting!

      No problem, good to here what different choirs around the world are up to!

      Hi - I've had a look at the Palestrina, but it's originally in 3 parts. Might give it a miss since there are so many different versions, think I might just confuse people! Sorry about that.

      basshymn that makes sense!! I’ve noticed that as well. Thanks again for the great work!

    Thanks. I love your voice, casual style and your ability to share this to us hopeful bass/baritones.(Bassitones?)

      basshymn I hope so, I got a while to practice it though. How long did it take you to nail it down because you did it super well!

    • @basshymn
      @basshymn  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The notes aren't the hard bit for me ... I'm not too bad at sight reading. The words are where I made lots of mistakes! Hard to do it all roughly right in one take! Ha!

    • @samuelmcswain8950
      @samuelmcswain8950 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      basshymn Im fairly decent at site reading, but that is gonna need work as I said. Out of curiosity, what is your background?

    • @basshymn
      @basshymn  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I work for a ballet company in the UK as a company pianist. This involves a lot of blagging and playing music to a decent standard that you haven't had enough time to learn, and a lot of improvising and blagging. So I'm a pianist - studied music at Manchester University about 10 years ago.
      Not much knowledge of singing, but I do run a church choir. More of a musical person who has to sing than a singer!
      How about yourself?

  • @lydond99

    Nice job. Is this considered a classical piece. Again, very nice.

    • @basshymn
      @basshymn  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you.
      I think it's from the Baroque period which is the one before the Classical period ... but colloquially I think people would call it a classical piece.

    • @basshymn
      @basshymn  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi - someone called Cristina Torres uploaded definitely the soprano and maybe the alto. They're not easy to find for some reason, but I'm subscribed to her (you might be able to see my subscriptions on my page?)

    You're asked to sing on your own the whole bass part of Messiah?
    I don't know if you're the bravest or the most reckless man I've ever met.

      It flow like you do. 👍

      Thank you!
      Hmm, I really don’t know, I’m not really i singer. I do think that it can be worthwhile to have a handful of singing lessons as a one off for people actually. There’s not much point in doing that with something like the piano but with singing I think you can learn a lot of things to work on that are useful for choir singing pretty fast.
      Maybe I should find out more and create a helpful “choir singing tips” video …
