    I could have watched this get together for 24 hours I wish it never ended as it went on I thought with with great memories of my own service with great pride. These men are men of the greatest generation of Rhodesians who the world turned their backs on they all persevered and I truly don't think any men of any nation could have accomplished what these men have after their country was stolen from them. Now look at America we are in the early stages of what happened to them are cities are being burned with no consequences for the ones doing it. It will only go on the media propaganda is in full swing soon I feel we will suffer the same fate

    I’m slowly working my way through all the interviews on this channel, and this one is a jewel. Hannes stories never fail to amaze me. I was completely unaware of the prisoner rescue in Zambia before today. And John….you have Ron’s actual whistle and button tool! That’s absolutely amazing! Bravo! Keep it safe always.

    Thank you for sharing this video with those courageous ex Rhodesian army guys. I am very much enjoying the series of videos being published. I am an ex engineer , intake 134 with Major Blamire. I was in same intake as Leroy Dubilee who was the Rhodesia rugby full back. Unfortunately Leroy and Capt Small lost their life in one of the last external mission in Mozambique in a chopper that was shot down. They were on a mission to blow a bridge. You would know about that. Thanks again and keep up the excellent work in sharing those wonderful, heroic stories of our brave Rhodesian army men. Cheers Jacques fayolle

    What a strange thing this. I am Rhodesian born but never fought in that war. I did some time in the SADF, infantry officer training at the Army Gym in Heidelberg, Transvaal in those days.. Later I taught for several months at Bergvliet High School. I've watched "Fighting Men of Rhodesia" and have nothing but respect for these guys. Having said that, they are now only old farts, like myself. What does this say about human life? Maybe that you do the best you can, when you can. That is what makes one human and maybe that is all there is to say.

    A superb video.
    Traditional military skills are being lost, due to modern technology, and this is interesting for soldiers, regular/ reserve today.
    What I also find most interesting is how they managed with DIY made equipment, and were allowed to come up with their own tactics.

    • @daviddaly1257
      @daviddaly1257 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well there in lies the strength of the Rhodesian military model: teaching men to think on their feet and come up with practical, in the moment, solutions.

    • @skylongskylong1982
      @skylongskylong1982 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daviddaly1257 Let's hope the movers, and shakers in NATO, and Western Nations are watching this video, and learn from it.
      Going back over three decades when in the reserves, I remember learnt from South Africans how to jump off a moving trucks land on my feet, 2 metres apart from the next guy all in single file, and from Rhodesians how to tell how old footprints were.

It brings back memories of the stories I have heard around the fire from my dad (bush pig , selous scouts ) and my uncle Stephen bacon (2 commando ) I’m trying to get into contact with you as these two legends have some good stories to share . How do I get them into contact with you ? Many thanks .
