Notes: This. Game. ARGH. I fell head over heels in love with Kaidan Alenko, and I really enjoyed the friendship between him and Shepard throughout ME1 and even on Horizon in ME2 and THEN ME3 AND THE GREATEST ROMANCE I EVER WITNESSED ON SCREEN HAPPENED. honestly, this pairing has everything and it's canon! i'm. so. in. love.
when i re-play the trilogy as fem-shep i'll romance kaidan all over again. there's just no alternative that can remotely compare to the feelings these two give me.
I fell in love with Kaiden in ME:1, had my heart broken in ME:2, and remembered why I fell in love in ME:3... I can't romance anyone but Kaiden... He makes me smile every time I hear him speaking...and saying goodbye to him is always so heartbreaking....

Same. By the way... You don't have to say goodbye to him (I mean, technically the event of saying goodbye to him towards the end is scripted, BUT!!!) In the extended cut, if you destroy the Reapers and have 5000 or more effective military strength, the added scenes (Kaidan [or the love interest] refusing to hang the plaque and smiling softly, the crew fixing the Normandy and taking off from the nondescript planet they landed upon after the galaxy-wide energy blast, and a faceless figure in N7 armor, laying among a pile of rubble, taking a breath [aka Shepard on the Citadel]) allude to the fact that Shepard survives and would be found, and that he and Kaidan would be reunited. Kaidan finds him amidst the rubble of the Citadel, he's nursed back to health, and they get to continue their story together. They're able to hold each other as much as they want and nothing ever comes between them. They get to live happily ever after.
That theory makes me smile and I'll take it 😉
Kathryne Newton It's not completely a made up fanfic, though, which is the best part. One of the devs actually made a comment stating that the intent behind those extra scenes in the extended cut is to give the impression that they'd be reunited, essentially confirming it as canon (for the "destroy" and 5000+ EMS ending, anyhow.) ^^ They just don't go into detail as to what happens after Shepard is found and reunited with his love. (Lore-friendly headcanon fanfic follows...) Of course he'd be healed by Dr. Chakwas, perhaps Dr. Michel (the lady that nursed Kaidan back to health) would help. Then they'd move back to Earth and help rebuild. Go to Vancouver, where Kaidan's mother is, so she could meet the famous/legendary Commander Shepard. She'd be all happy for Kaidan, that he found such a good man to be with, and she'd be so proud of her son and new son-in-law. The couple would get a house by the Pacific just like Kaidan wanted. They'd still be part of the Alliance, but mainly in title, a sort of honorary thing for all of the hard work and amazing feats they accomplished on behalf of all the races in the galaxy. For the most part they'd be officially retired from the force, able to enjoy the remainder of their lives in relative peace. Perhaps they'd help give advice and offer their expertise for mission planning, such as busting up smuggling runs or squabbling gangs. They wouldn't have to be on the front lines anymore, though. No more worrying about the other not coming back. They get to be together for the rest of their lives.
If you play Mass Effect on the PC there is a mod called "MEHEM" (Mass Effect Happy Ending Mod) where your Shepard is rescued and meets up with your LI on the Normandy. Do a search here on TH-cam for "MEHEM" to see it. It is absolutely worth it!!

Best romance ever; especially from where they started from as friends, where they ended up at Horizon, to totally loving each other after all that time missed and then for Kaidan to lose him after confessing and expressing their feelings for each other! I am so in LOVE with these two characters (MEN) and want them together badly. Best game I stumbled across in a LONG TIME! Fact is I'm NOT A GAMER!!! MASS E is a great game but MASS E 3 WITH KAIDAN AND SHEPARD IS TO ME CANON!!! Their evolving relationship was rocky (somewhat understandable) BUT the refinements that happened in MASS E 3 were INCREDIBLE to where to take the relationship next. So GLAD THEY DID!! OBESSED WITH THE GAME AND THEM NOW!! They're truly a great couple and even a well thought out live action treatment would be incredible!! Done RIGHT!!!

My male ShepxKaidan romance started accidentally, but gald it happened, since this is one of the best romances game has to offer! Kaidans face breaks me everytime when I have to say goodbye to him at the end of ME3 😢

I haven’t seen many vids of Mass Effect, but this is so incredible and outstanding that it’s so memorable. I think about it all the time and then I watch it and just, wow. Are you trying to kill me? I love Kaidan so much that every time I play the game I have to save him like no matter who I'm romancing because the first time I played through the game he broke me...
Kaidan will always be my choice, no hesitation, not just because Ash is such a biggot, he's such a lovable and loyal character.
You broke me, my Kaiden love is absolute. I've tried to romance other characters but it feels like cheating if its not Kaiden. I love the vid thank you.

So beautiful...best romance ever. However, judging by your ending, how Kaidan actually hangs Shepard's plaque on the memorial wall, and a particularly crucial scene being left out, you must not have had 5000 or more Effective Military Strength. Choosing "destroy" with 5000+ EMS, Kaidan will refuse the hang the plaque, and there will be a scene at the very end of an N7 armor-clad body among some rubble (AKA Shepard) taking a breath (I believe this part is only with the Extended Cut version of the game, though.) The purpose of these scenes is to allude to the fact that Shepard survived and would be found and reunited with Kaidan and crew. Even someone from the design team commented that was indeed the intent of the extra scenes added by the Extended Cut, essentially confirming it as canon. In any case, I'm glad I got the good ending where the Reapers were destroyed, Shepard survived, and Kaidan smiles without hanging the plaque.

Sorry, I can't find the part with Shepard's breath. And I mistook the part where Kaidan was examining/looking at the plaque lovingly (after which he refuses to hang it in the full scene) as him actually hanging it; that was my bad. I was all emotional, though, so you can't blame me. I had just finished the trilogy for the first time, and I was super wrecked over everything that was happening. I commented on like a dozen different ME videos about the "good" ending, trying to make myself feel better and convince myself that Shepard and Kaidan would get to continue their life together. I got so attached to the story and characters over all 3 games! I was legit depressed that it was over. Still kind of am, a little bit... I wish there was more Shepard/Normandy/MShenko story to see!! At least we have Andromeda in 2 days! I'm hoping it will have the same level of great writing, so I can also get attached to the characters and story in the new galaxy. :) lol I'm a loser. Anyway, it's a lovely video either way, gets me right in the feels every time.

No The New ending is that he smiles because he knows that Shepard will make it back to him somehow. Your love interest will turn and hug someone if they've accepted that you're dead. Destroy ending is the only one that you can get that kind of ending unless of course you mod Shepard still alive and unharmed. Alternatly Shepard still alive hugging someone because Andrson/Thane is dead.
this is basically because the original ending to Mass Effect 3 was sucky and didn't explain anything it made you think that Shepard was killed in the destroy ending. also there are two other endings I don't know if you saw them there's this synthesis and control.control allows you to take over the reapers and you don't technically die but whether you would actually see Kaden again kind of hard to know.
so for those who haven't ever played any of them you have two endings where you can arguably live only one of them where you can stay with Kaden.
synthesis however tears you apart from the inside and I don't think that any part of you survives.well intact anyway bits of you go off to the Galaxy and spread the reaper code all through every living being so I guess since you do live on.Mark who does the voice of Shepard says that that his his favorite ending because it allows both the organics and the AI exist. Nevermind it kills his character but still he likes it that's his favorite

I forgot the ending where if you do nothing then everyone dies and Edi is narrating about she alive and they knowhow to stop the reapers and now 50,000 years later and they're going to stop the reapers.

this video is so beautiful! i have never played any of the ME games but you sure made me interested. sadly my family doesn't really have that much extra money and i can't really afford buying all the games even though i would very much like to. so i was wondering do you know any let's plays/playthroughs (preferably of the whole trilogy) where the player would choose this particular pairing in ME3? thank you in advance! btw, i love all your work, your editing is so good! so much talent, keep up the good work!!

the ME trilogy is often on sale though. i think all three games were like 15€ in the psn store last time
Find the franchise on Steam, also the possibility to go from there to ORIGIN and get the year-pass for 25Euros (25USD?) for a whole year. There you can play many games that are included, as well the Mass Effect franchise. There is also a Demo on Steam. Don't miss this wonderful game! Check out youtube for how to unlock the different romances (male and female). Have fun!
