My best friend just passed away at 28, and about ten years ago we shared a moment driving freely down the highway together when this song played, not one of us said a word during it.... I will never, ever forget the power in spirit we shared or felt in those minutes this song played.
It really is in those unforgettable moments we keep all those we love alive. I know the feeling, and the only way I accepted it was in knowing that I was keeping them alive by remembering all they were in life. Sorry if I was out of place, but peace to you and your friend.

This song has carried me through a lot. Even 4 years ago my bull terrier Rex died of cancer, I had to listen to this song daily for a month to get the pain out, not just the pain, the guilt as well. I miss you little bro!!!

@@xrhstos91 I know the feeling all too well. Sorry for your loss. Again on 14 February this year I saw a car drive over my cat.the idiot kept going and did not bother to stop. I am haunted with what I went through on a daily base and again so much guilt. He did not immediately die and what I saw he went through the final moments while I held him and am so damn helpless and knew there was nothing I could do.

My friend Chris Delemis made me listen to In Flames one day, I didn't discover only a beautiful metal band but also a beautiful part of himself, the guy doing 3D, the guy playing guitar, the guy loving every part of art I seemed to love too. He made me discover so much songs, made me for sure a better person, made me see better what good choices I had to do in life, be with better people even if that was hard beyond my feelings and wanting of saving everyone. One day we stopped talking, but as for me I can't forget. I stay quite pessimist. Not sure he'll come back. He would already have. But one day if you listen to that song Chris, read this comment, know that you'll stay a friend forever to me, far away from mistakes from each other. Far away from time. Far away from bad memories.
TFW you've listened to In Flames for over 15 years of your life and you know they may not be touring anymore with how shit the world is... but just the chance to meet them and with tears in your eyes try to explain just how much their music has meant to you over your life.... One of the most epically deep metal ballad I've ever heard. It's a song that cuts so deep that every word plucks at your soul and your inner insecurities and fears. Way to go guys, Anders' voice is sublime and the music is so powerful.

This song hits hard when you know you biggest fear is failing and being a disappointment... I have a huge fear of letting people down and i feel like i always do. I feel like i'm hated and pitied. my family tells me i have to stop being so incompetent. I'm used to be a failure but its still my biggest fear because it seems i cant control it in my house, work etc.
Answer to yourself this question? how can one become better if one doesn't make mistakes. Don't be afraid of failing. Start small, build on it. it sill accumulate . Look for something that has your interest, start reading about mental health. I did, it works, start looking for faults in your judgement, and act to change, and keep acting,... doing it... every single day, until you get it right. you will get it right. And then do it some more... cuz thats life.
Be the best version of everyone you know and yourself. Try to build yourself form the best pieces. Also, don't worry about failing people, just be there for them and trust me you won't fail anyone. Also, don't be so harsh on yourself im sure its not the case that you're a failure, im sure you're not a failure. In this world no ones perfect. Most of people are absolutely empty. Find joy in everything you do, find joy in every moment. Live happy, stop caring so much about being a failure in the eyes of strangers. In those days everyone's a stranger. You never know what they hide. In the end all that matters is fun and enjoyment. Trust me, it will be a lot harder enjoying yourself six feet under biting dust, even tho every one will be talking so nice of who you've been. Stop caring and live, thats the key to happiness. I hope you found it in yourself to live stronge

At some point you need to look out for yourself and stop trying to please your loved ones. Its difficult and frightening but you need to stop caring what they think. You were not put on this earth to please everyone else. You will let people down in life, its just the way it is. You cant hold it against yourself, it will cripple you.

what am i the only one who thinks he's saying "abused by the trials and tribulations" instead of "amused"? that would fit the context of the song better. i mean, "approaching constant failure", "if i survive", "i carve my name in stone", "the chosen pessimist"...it sounds like a song about someone who's been abused by life, not amused by life.
