JT from Zurich....ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC !!!! WOW....THIS MAKES ME WANT TO ABANDON MY DIGITAL RECORDING GEAR AND GO BACK TO REEL-TO-REEL TAPE MEDIUM. GOD, TALK ABOUT A TRACK WITH A THOUSAND CUTS.....THIS RECORDING IS THE PRODUCT OF AN ABSOLUTE TON OF HARD WORK. TEDIOUS DIFFICULT CUTTING, WHICH TOOK HOURS AND HOURS TO DO THESE EDITS, BY HAND, WITH A RAZOR BLADE AND SPLICING TAPE. I DON'T THINK THAT THE YOUNGER VIEWERS EVEN REALIZE HOW DIFFICULT AND TIME CONSUMING IT WAS IN THE OLD DAYS OF ANALOG TAPE, TO EDIT RECORDINGS. EVERY EDIT, EVERY CHANGE, EVERY CORRECTED MUSICIAN'S MISTAKE, REQUIRED THE RECORDING ENGINEER AND MASTERING ENGINEER, TO FIND THE EXACT SPOT OF THE MISTAKE, THEN TAKE A RAZOR BLADE AND CUT OUT THAT SMALL EXACT SECTION OF THE TAPE, AND THEN RE-SPLICE THE TAPE BY HAND. THIS PROCESS TOOK HOURS, DAYS AND EVEN WEEKS AT TIMES, BEFORE THE MASTER TAPE WAS PERFECT. ONCE IT WAS PERFECT, IT WAS THEN TRANSFERRED TO A 'LAQUOR' FLAT DISC, RECORDED NOTE-BY-NOTE IN REAL TIME, AND THEN IT WAS TRANSFERED TO A DISC PRESSING IN REAL TIME NOTE-BY-NOTE TO A 'MOTHER DISC'. ONCE THE 'MOTHER' WAS CUT, IT WAS THEN SENT TO THE RECORD PRESSING PLANTS, WHERE VINYL RECORDS WERE SHOT INTO MOLDS, AND STAMPED BY THE MOTHER, WHICH CREATED THE FINISHED VINYL LONG PLAY (L.P.) RECORD, WHICH WOULD BE SHIPPED OUT TO THE RECORD STORES AND PURCHASED BY CONSUMERS. IT WAS A TIME-CONSUMING, LABOR INTENSIVE AND DIFFICULT PROCESS, MOSTLY DONE BY CRAFTSPEOPLE AND SKILLED ARTISANS WHO WERE EXPERIENCED IN MAKING RECORDS FOR THE PUBLIC. THANK YOU JT FROM ZURICH FOR YOUR BEAUTIFUL VIDEO, SHOWING YOUR FANTASTIC SKILL AS AN AUDIO EDITOR AND MASTERING ENGINEER. I HOPE PEOPLE WHO WATCH THIS VIDEO REALIZE JUST HOW MUCH SKILL AND WORK WAS REQUIRED TO MAKE RECORDS IN THE PRE-COMPUTER AND PRE-DIGITAL DAYS. (1920 - 1980)
Respect the creator of the mix! Undoubtedly the highest level of professionalism in this manual work! I thank for this video, after it, I grew respect for the music and sound engineers of the 80's!
My uncle copied me this from his original record in my teenage time some years ago, wow. Impressive to see how it was cut/made. Thanks very much!!! Love it, an the creator of this famous work!
TH-cam algorythm suggested me this video ten years after it was pubblished. Personally I fuond that kind of discotheque music despicable (the algorythm possibly made the suggestion because my interest on vintage audio and "ye olde" techno music), not to say that reggaetón and cachengue that sounds at boliches, bailantas and parties today are simply vomitive for me. Having said that, I think that this materrial is fascinating and I gave it my corresponding thumbs up and now I will watch Part 2! Best regards from Buenos Aires.

Tried that myself a few days ago. Nothing crazy but just tying a few tracks together keeping them in beat. Probably a splicing block and good sticky tape would've made it easier, but still, making such tapes is heck of a hard work! Great job man!
@@HunterSkowronPDX Better late than never... yeah you basically write multiple copies of a song onto tape, or at least parts of the song, then only cut out the beat that you need and stick it where you need it
The sad part is much of the quality in the recording is lost when pressed onto vinyl. So many of my older remixes are damaged from misadjusted turntables and contaminated styli.
Do you have the full mp3 of this mix for download? You did an amazing job on this!! I started with a 4 track cassette, then to a digital 8 track and currently use Adobe Audition. I couldn't imagine using this method for editing. Again, great job!!

Great job man!
how do you make it "loop"? do you have to make a copy of the tiny sections you splice?
@@HunterSkowronPDX Better late than never... yeah you basically write multiple copies of a song onto tape, or at least parts of the song, then only cut out the beat that you need and stick it where you need it
slowed down bit made my sub thump lol
