Full Tour of the 101st Airborne Museum - Bastogne.

- The 101st Airborne Museum Le Mess in Bastogne is located in the former officers mess building of the Belgium Army. A big collection of original items of the Bulge with authentic reconstructions and very realistic mannequins makes this museum worthwhile to visit. Different scenes bring you back to life during wartime in settings during winter.
I found this museum to be the best museum in the area which focuses on the Battle of the Bulge and The Battle of Bastogne.
In my opinion, you could skip the Bastogne War Museum and miss nothing of importance.

This video was hit with Limited adds for extreme violence so I had to re-upload the entire thing and censor a bit of the video.
But why Limited adds.? I think it's because TH-cam has placed this channel on alert and is deliberately hitting these videos before it's even done uploading yet.
What does Limited adds mean? It means that it will not get the views it would normally get and the video will fall out off TH-cam's algorithm.
Most of the time it will get adds back after review, sadly that's not working anymore. So i'm getting demonetized without breaking the TH-cam guidelines.

I served with 101 Airborne division in 1969 and 1970 and Vietnam with the 2/501st Charlie Company, and I am so proud to have been part of that division the great history that they have would’ve been an honor and a privilege to have been to that museum at Bastone
What a lovely museum, puts many bigger ones to shame. So much patina on the exhibits and such atmosphere throughout the experience. And those lifesize dioramas are fantastic, helping to bring history to life. Superb effort. Thank you for highlighting this gem of a museum, it is now on my list of places to visit. 👍🏻👍🏻🤞🏻

My Uncle John was there and was wounded by shrapnel. He served with the 101st from Normandy til the end of the war. He always like to say he was drinking Hitlers booze in Berchtesgaden. God Bless all of our military

i am a vet and i went to the museum and it was very good I went into the celler and for the first time in 30 years i had flash backs to my time in the service I dont think i have PTSD but it did bring back memories i thought i had forgotten
Very interesting that your memories would be triggered by that experience. Our minds are such complex things.
I have never had flashbacks but being in the cellar brought something to the surface and i dont wish it to happen again

Thanks for that video, too many people fall for the BWM/Bois Jacques that sadly became a tourist trap
I thought that you were a bit harsh in your previous video on the BWM, but at the time I did not visit it since its renovation. I revisited the place, including the Bois Jacques that now look like a concentration camp, and disappointment is an understatement. There's simply no more collection, I didn't even see von Manteuffel leather jacket that he gave to the museum in 1970 I hope that I just missed it because if they sold it that would be outrageous!
The museum is now a Joke and if I heard correctly they sold a lot of stuff even scrapped a lot of stuff that was in their care, so maybe the jacket was dumped aswell. I heard a lot of rumors and they aren't great at all.

When we went to the bastogne war museum it was with the nuts weekend, and the gates to go into the museum were open, so we saw like 75% for free until they said we couldn’t look anymore 😂

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the museum, especially seeing the settings of some areas of how the soldiers on both sides were positioned. It's too bad that TH-cam is giving you so many problems due to an algorithm that is seeing everything in black or white. To have to blur or cover over a German battleflag because it has the Nazi Swastika on it or the recording of weapons fire or explosions is considered too violent to be shown then that means that a lot of history cannot be shown and that is ridiculous to say the least. I hope who ever is running things at TH-cam finally wakes up, pulls their head out of their ass and correct this problem before it's too late. Apparently this is affecting other people who have posted videos on TH-cam and some of them are talking about going elsewhere. Good luck to you, have a merry Christmas and I hope to see more of your videos next year.

Looks like an excellent museum. Is there adequate interpretative information available so that you understand the significance of the artifacts you are viewing? The war damaged helmets are always harrowing.
Yes I found that a lot of the objects and pictures all had information.
Visited the Bastogne War Museum last September and was very disappointed. Very limited displays and looked like minimal thought went into the overall design of the museum and woefully overpriced to boot. A few days later I was in Normandy and went to one of the best WW 2 museums in the world being the D-Day Experience/Dead Man's Corner Museum.
Er is een hoop veranderd in Bastogne sinds 2010 zie ik. ( 7 dagen daar rond gezworven toen ) de musea in Diekirch en laroch ardenne waren toen de enige goede. ( goed te weten dat de Bastogne museum flut is 👍🏻 )
Ik weet niet of je het Bastogne War museum nog hebt bezocht voordat het flut werd? Want volgens mij was het nog ok in 2010.
Bastogne war museum was voor de renovatie een mooi en interessant museum. Ik ben dit jaar niet eens meer naar binnen gegaan, veel te commercieel. Wel uiteraard in het 1O1ste museum en de Barracks. geweest. Verder La Gleize, La Roche en door naar Diekirch ( mooi museum maar geen veranderende collectie, al meer dan 2O jaar vrijwel gelijk] . Ook Clervaux en het Pattonmusem in Ettlebruck bekeken. Al met al drukke 2 dagen maar bere interessant. Verder helemaal mee eens dat TH-cam zich vreselijk moraliserend en hypocriet aan het opstellen is. Het lijkt op het ontkennen van oorlog en zijn vreselijkheden@@PanzerPicture

Whom were the 502nd PIR of 2WW? Why are they never acknowledged in US WWII military history? It historically appears that the 502nd PIR was already engaged with Hitler's Headquarter's already under siege when the 101ST Airborne had arrived at Hitler's Headquarters. Why are the U S WW2 military history not aligning with the Bestogne 101ST Airborne Museum history account?
