      That balances out the curse. lol. But check this out. The 1974 Pittsburgh Steelers are the only team in history to lead the league in sacks and turnovers. (The 2019 Steelers lead the league in both with 3 games left) They also played 3 different QB's Bradshaw, Hanrrety and Gilliam. 2019 Roethlisberger, Rudolph and Hodges..And this is gonna blow your mind. Guess who they played on week 15 that year? (Even though it was a playoff game) The Buffalo Bill's. On Dec 22, 1974 the final was Steelers 32 Bill's 14 @Three Rivers Stadium..Cant make this up.....Relax...No curse here....Oh and that team went on to the SB. Their first. And beat Minnesota.

    thank you for explaining it so easily that even someone like me who watched his first NFL season 3 years ago (I'm from Germany and grew up with Football/Soccer) and immediately fell in love with the Steelers.
    I love how the whole team banded together this season to fight against all odds. Yes there are many nailbiter games and its not always pretty on offense but still you see how the defense stepped up to pull the offense. I remember all the experts saying "why trade for Minkah when you can have a high first pick next season?" and he shows them each week why it was the right choice.
    Personally I think this season would make be a great "America's Game" documentation although its of course so unlikely that they will get to the Superbowl let alone win it to get that type of documentation on this team but I can see it and the typical interviews of the players and coaches in front of my inner eye

    Man, your film breakdowns are awesome. I mean When I played ball in college it took me a week and sometimes after therm game to see what you are posting. AWESOME! The Steeler Match zone correction is an great adjustment, giving up the short outside pass (probably 3rd and long) and taking away what hurt you deep/intermediate middle.

    Brett, I think this really shows your greatest strengths as an analyst- explaining the effect of players and schemes that doesn't show up in stats or less informed film study, and lauding a team right before their schedule gets harder. Great breakdown. This channel has made football so much more enjoyable to watch.

    Finally someone recognizes this no one listens to me at my school when I talk about the steelers d and minka all I hear is he wasnt worth the first rounder cause mason is bad and duck is undrafted and now we dont have a 1st rounder in a qb heavy draft but personally I think minka with an above top 15 pic was a steal

    • @bolbyballinger
      @bolbyballinger 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That they think this draft is qb heavy is hilarious.
      Joe Burrow's worth the first round, Tua (if healthy) is worth the first round.
      After that things fall off a cliff though. Justin Herbert I think is first round worthy, as far as qbs go, but he's on the edge. Jalen Hurts makes stupid decisions that only work because he's throwing to CeeDee Lamb and he's not fast enough for his running to work in the NFL.
      After that there's nobody I would even bother glancing at.

    • @Nate-oh5oc
      @Nate-oh5oc 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The steelers will likely get a 1st round pick in the 20s so they probably wouldn't have gotten a good QB and minkah has played well enough to be a top 5 pick

    • @andyjabez9780
      @andyjabez9780 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, Minkah is what you hope you get with a first round pick, except he is already a proven commodity.

    • @6666Imperator
      @6666Imperator 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      do we have to go for a qb next year though? I mean Big Ben should be healthy next year again and his contract was just extended. You can keep Duck as a backup and sit out for a year on a QB pick or maybe get one in the later rounds like with Mason. The question of course is how the draft classes after that one look in terms of QBs.

    Great upload, Brett. As a Steelers fan, I almost had a heart attack when this trade was announced, because, this is so out of character for us to give up a Number1 for a free agent, they just don't do that. Then, I went back and watched your prior video on Minkah as he was coming our of Bama, and I was even more excited. You hit the nail on the head....he is not just athletically gifted, he has an underappreciated very high Football IQ...Nick Saban said he was one of the toughest and smartest kids he ever coached through his program, he also was never injured (in the SEC!!) holy shi*t. Thanks for the very through breakdown of his talents and what it means to our young defense.

      @@eagletocool trash coaching and bad player development. Which is funny because when you look at the Miami Heat, those 2 things are synonymous with the franchise and have been for years. You would have thought that Mr. Ross might have taken some notes from another SUCCESSFUL sports franchise in the same city.

    Nick Saban regards Minkah as one of his most cerebral players ever. Coming from the greatest college coach whose pride and joy is his secondary, that's high praise.
    Edit: Your point about watching games live is important! Baseball and Football, primarily, are so much more enjoyable to watch live because you can see how the players are reacting off-screen. Makes the viewing experience much more enjoyable.

    • @514140mgk
      @514140mgk 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not enjoyable unless you get 50 yard line seats. Best seats I ever had were the from the upper deck on the 1st row looking down at the 50 yard line. Try enjoying the game from one of the End Zones. You spend $150 bucks for a ticket and end up watching the game on the big screen.

    I like the coaches copy plus graphics I can tell you took your time with this one and you did a good job. After saying that you misdiagnosed a couple coverages and said something’s pertaining to Minkah’s style of play but in reality he’s just playing out the defense. Even though the route combination was the same the reason he played it differently was based on the formation. Also the play he made that great pbu was man not cover 4.

  • @Mrballer2312
    @Mrballer2312 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I loved that first dagger concept the chargers ran. My favorite part was taking the back and making him the fast 3 to the dagger side. It pulled that hook defender (55) lower in the hook zone expanding the window for the Q. Without the back he could keep gaining depth and rob #1. These guys are great play designers. The chess match every play is astounding.

    Minkah is definitely a rare talent and the dolphins are probably kicking themselves now(not that they utilized him properly anyway, shoving him in as a slot CB like that when he's so obviously a pure safety). If they make the playoffs then i think people will realize just how unique that culture in pittsburgh is. Next man up mentality is really showing this year
